Wall Street returned to its winning ways this week — and Nvidia 's blowout earnings report Wednesday night was a big reason why. Twenty-six of our 32 portfolio stocks have delivered their results this earnings season (we didn't own Abbott Labs at the time of its report). It was a muted week for macroeconomic data, but we did get a slightly better-than-expected January existing home sales report on Thursday. In the week ahead, two more Club names are set to report earnings before a market-moving economic update arrives Thursday morning. The two other reports of note are the January new home sales report on Monday and ISM Manufacturing report on Friday.

"The Magnificent Seven stocks generally are starting to run out of steam at this point because their valuations are getting pretty full at this point of time," Morningstar's Chief Markets Strategist David Sekera told CNBC Pro on Feb. 2. Tech stocks The chief strategist remains bullish on tech, albeit outside of the Magnificent Seven, and named Cognizant Technology Solutions and Snowflake as picks to play the theme. Value in energy The energy sector — one of the laggards of the stock market last year — is also on Sekera's radar. Morningstar gives stocks a rating of between one and five stars, with a top rating indicating that the shares are undervalued.

With this view in mind, I am looking to place a small bet against the tech sector using Snowflake (SNOW) as my primary trading vehicle. The Trade Setup: SNOW $195-$190 Bear Put Spread The trade structure I am using here is called a bear put spread, also known as a put debit spread. Most trading platforms will offer a bear put spread (or long put spread) as a trade type and automatically construct the trade for you.

Brad Gerstner rose to prominence in the tech investment scene for his early lucrative bets in Snowflake and Meta Platforms , and he's showing no signs of slowing down. The tech investor launched his investment firm Altimeter Capital in the depths of the 2008 financial crisis with less than $3 million raised from his family and friends. Altimeter has also been an on-and-off investor in Meta Platforms since the early 2010s. As a top 15 institutional investor, Gerstner wrote a critical open letter in October 2022, saying the company needed to slash headcount and stop spending so much money on metaverse.
