CNN —Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, who is presiding over the Georgia election subversion case against former President Donald Trump and 18 other co-defendants, will hold his first hearing Wednesday afternoon amid questions of how soon a trial could begin. The hearing could provide key insight into how much evidence Fulton County prosecutors have in their case against Trump and his allies who are accused of interfering in Georgia’s 2020 election results to try to flip the state away from Joe Biden. All 19 defendants charged in the sprawling Fulton County racketeering case – including Powell and Chesebro – have pleaded not guilty and waived their right to an in-person arraignment. Since lawyers Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell have both filed speedy trial demands, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said their trial would begin Oct. 23, but he seemed skeptical of prosecutors’ arguments that all 19 defendants could be tried together that soon. CNN —The Fulton County, Georgia, judge overseeing the sprawling 2020 election interference racketeering case against former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants says that all proceedings in his courtroom related to the case will be livestreamed and allowed to be televised. The ruling, however, would be subject to change and would not apply to any portions of the case moved to federal court. In a court hearing Thursday, Superior Court of Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, who was assigned the case, said he would make all hearings and possible trials available to be broadcast on the Fulton County Court YouTube channel. McAfee has discretion on whether to sever the cases for separate trials. But defendants soon could make similar speedy trial requests, which would require their trials to begin by Nov. 3. In her court filing Tuesday, Willis said she opposed, "at this juncture," severing the cases of defendants so that they would be tried either in 19 separate trials or in smaller groups.

In the Georgia case, the question of whether to change the venue — a legal maneuver known as removal — matters because it would affect the composition of a jury. If the case stays in Fulton County, Ga., the jury will come from a bastion of Democratic politics where Mr. Trump was trounced in 2020. If the case is removed to federal court, the jury will be drawn from a 10-county region of Georgia that is more suburban and rural — and somewhat more Trump-friendly. ET before Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee, court records show. Floyd, like most of the 19 co-defendants in Atlanta District Attorney Fani Willis' sprawling RICO case, surrendered at Fulton County jail this week ahead of a Friday deadline. Floyd did not do this and therefore "is in custody at the Fulton County Jail," the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Thursday. Attorney John Eastman on Monday was ordered to pay a $100,000 bond in the Georgia criminal case where he is accused of conspiring to overturn former President Donald Trump's loss in the state's 2020 election, a court filing shows. He is also accused of one count of criminal solicitation and one count of filing false documents. The bond for the racketeering charge was set at $20,000, while Eastman's remaining charges each carry a $10,000 bond, according to the court filing in Fulton County Superior Court. A consent bond order can be crafted in advance of a defendant's surrender so that they are not held in jail while the conditions of their release are worked out. David Wolfe, a lawyer for Eastman who signed the consent bond order, in a phone call would not explicitly tell CNBC when his client will surrender in Georgia.
