After earning her bachelor’s degree in fine art and education in 1955, Ringgold began teaching art in public schools while developing her own art. The painting, arguably the series’ most famous, gorily depicts a group of men, women and children brutally attacking one another.

The steep drop in the tower's value is just one sign that St. Louis' central business district is struggling, reports say. CNN —Airbnb wants more renters, and not just homeowners, to be able to become hosts on its short-term rental platform. New York City, for example, has argued that short-term rental platforms like Airbnb limit available housing supply, leading to overall higher rents, and that they can be disruptive to neighborhoods. “A lot of the early laws that were made limited short-term rental to homeownership,” Theo Yedinsky, the vice president of public policy at Airbnb, told CNN. These renters, however, will still have to get permission from their landlord to host on Airbnb (Airbnb has no involvement in individual lease agreements between property owners and tenants). And many major cities, including New York, are increasingly cracking down and heavily restricting the short-term rental market.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — A former correctional officer at a federal California women's prison known for numerous misconduct allegations was sentenced to six years in prison for sexually abusing five inmates, federal officials announced Wednesday. Nakie Nunley, who supervised inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution, Dublin, becomes the seventh correctional officer sentenced to prison for sexually abusing inmates, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. A 2022 investigation by The Associated Press revealed a cultural of rampant sexual abuse and cover-up at the prison. U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement that Nunley “egregiously exploited” his power to abuse inmates and retaliate against those who spoke up. Nunley pleaded guilty last year to four counts of sexual abuse of a ward and five lesser felonies of abusive sexual contact of five women.

"Organized retail crime," "retail theft," and similar terms don't correspond with categories that local police departments use to categorize crimes, Hanna Love, a fellow at Brookings, told Business Insider. It's unclear what makes organized retail crime "different than, say, other instances of shoplifting" from a data perspective, Love said. The NRF has said that it took back the estimate due to an error by an outside analyst who contributed to its report on organized retail crime.
