Walgreens to close 1,200 stores in the US over the next three years. AdvertisementUS pharmacy giant Walgreens announced Tuesday that it will close 1,200 stores across the US over the next three years as part of its turnaround effort; 500 locations will close next year. CEO Tim Wentworth told analysts on the firm's quarterly earnings call in June that "changes are imminent" for the 25% of Walgreens stores that were underperforming. The news of 1,200 closures came as the firm announced its fourth-quarter and full-year results for fiscal 2024, reporting a $3 billion loss during the quarter. Along with closing unprofitable stores, the pharmacy chain is also dialing back investments in its primary care clinics — VillageMD — as part of its plan to cut costs.

In total, Larsen has given around $1.9 million to support Harris' campaign directly and through PACs, according to FEC data compiled by crypto market and blockchain analyst James Delmore and independently verified by CNBC. Nearly half of all the corporate money flowing into the election has come from the crypto industry, according to a recent report from the nonprofit watchdog group Public Citizen. "What we've had to date has been almost like purposeful chaos by Gensler to kind of crush the domestic industry," Larsen said. Horowitz said that he and his wife, Felicia, "have known Vice President Harris for over 10 years and she has been a great friend to both of us during that time." On Monday, the Harris campaign unveiled its "Opportunity Agenda for Black Men" in a report.

The Federal Reserve is about a month into its rate-cutting cycle, and money market fund yields are already starting to pay less. That's where short and ultra-short duration bond funds and ETFs may come into play. An eye on duration Duration is a measure of a bond's price sensitivity when interest rates fluctuate. In that case, ultra-short bond funds and short-term bond funds might be "a natural landing spot for that cash." Those ultra-short bond funds have one to three years of duration and offer some stability day to day, Bartolini added.

The final minute of the first half against South Carolina shows plenty of room for both sides to take accountability. At midnight, as the calendar switched to July 1 and two of the country’s richest athletic departments joined its most dominant league, college football had officially entered its super-conference era. Unbeaten but somewhat unremarkable this season, Oregon is meanwhile trying to return to the College Football Playoff for the first time in a decade. However, Ohio State versus Oregon in a game that counts not as a non-conference game, or a Rose Bowl matchup on New Year’s Day, but in the Big Ten standings? Their stated aim is to promote more matchups more often between otherwise separated blue-blood programs — games just like Oregon vs. Ohio State. The summit was a reminder that the remaking of college football hasn’t ended.

The move brings his holdings down to 775 million shares, or a stake of about 9.987%. Since the holding is now under the key 10% threshold, Berkshire is no longer required to report its related transactions in a timely manner. The next 13F filing in mid-November will only reveal Berkshire's equity holdings as of the end of September. The Department of Justice should investigate four of the nation’s biggest operators of youth residential treatment facilities for civil rights violations and fraud, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., argued Wednesday in letters to Attorney General Merrick Garland. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., led a two-year probe into residential treatment facilities for at-risk youth. Wyden said these were clear violations of federal Medicaid rules prohibiting residential treatment facilities from restraining children to discipline them, and from simultaneously restraining and secluding children. Acadia and UHS have both paid multimillion-dollar settlements in recent years to resolve DOJ probes into their hospitals and psychiatric centers. However, those cases did not focus on youth facilities run by the companies, which Wyden is asking the DOJ to investigate.

As the Federal Reserve cuts interest rates, investors should review their bond portfolio, which could see a boost from dovish Fed policy. However, the Fed policy shift could be good for parts of the bond market, experts say. Typically, bond prices and market interest rates move in opposite directions. While it may be tempting to cling to cash, it will become "less attractive, less productive as interest rates fall," Ward said.

It marked the Commodores’ first-ever win over an AP top-five team and just the fourth time Alabama has lost as a No. — Joe RexrodeAlabama isn’t in as much CFP trouble as it may seemThe CFP margin for error has shrunk, of course, for an Alabama team that still has challenging road games against Tennessee, LSU and Oklahoma ahead.
