Ukraine unsuccessfully attacked a Russian warship in the Black Sea, Russia's defense ministry said. Russia said Ukraine used six unmanned boats to try and attack the ship on Sunday. The Black Sea peninsula was invaded by Russian forces and illegally annexed by Putin in 2014. At the time of Ukraine's attempted attack, an American RQ-4 Global Hawk unmanned surveillance aircraft was in the central part of the Black Sea, the ministry's statement added. In May, a Russian warship, the Ivan Khurs, was attacked by three unmanned speedboats in the Black Sea.

KYIV, June 11 (Reuters) - Russian forces shelled three small boats taking elderly residents to safety from inundated areas of southern Ukraine, killing three people and wounding 10, the regional governor said on Sunday. Kherson region's Ukrainian-appointed governor, Oleksander Prokudin said Russian forces were "deliberately trying to disrupt rescue efforts". "Today, terrorists opened fire on three boats that were used to rescue 21 people from the flooded (eastern) bank," Prokudin said on Ukrainian television. Russian forces, he said, were now shelling residents seeking evacuation from submerged areas. "(They have) cast people deliberately into flooded towns and villages and then shell boats used to try to evacuate them," Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address.

MOSCOW, June 9 (Reuters) - Russia said on Friday it had repelled fierce Ukrainian offensives in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions, killing more than 1,000 Ukrainian troops and destroying dozens of tanks and armoured vehicles. It said Ukrainian forces had attacked Russian lines four times with two battalions supported with tanks just south of Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk, but were pushed back. Russian forces had also repelled two attacks just south of city of Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region, the ministry said. Russia, which on Tuesday said Ukraine had lost 3,715 men in three days, did not give its own casualty figures. Ukraine has declined to comment on the long-awaited counter-offensive and has accused Russia of spreading lies about it.

The Afipsky refinery is not far from the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk, near another refinery that has been attacked several times this month. There was no immediate information on who launched the drone but Moscow has accused Kyiv of increased attacks inside Russia in recent weeks, while Russia has repeatedly pounded Ukrainian cities with drones and missiles. Russian drone attacks killed one person and wounded four in Kyiv on Tuesday, according to Ukrainian officials. Civilian targets in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities have since the earliest days of the war been struck repeatedly by Russian drones and missiles.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of fears for their safety in a city under Russian occupation.
