By contrast, the modern day Democrats’ historic success at winning the popular vote hasn’t translated into nearly as much governing power for them. Over this record run of popular vote success, Democrats have already twice lost the Electoral College – and thus the White House – while winning more votes. Amazingly, Republicans won unified control of government in two elections when Democrats won a plurality of the national presidential vote: 2000 and 2016. The Democrats’ popular vote winning stretch began in 1992 with Clinton’s victory over George H.W. The highest share of the popular vote Democrats have won over this period is the 52.9% that Obama garnered in 2008.

Fed easing hasn't led to lower mortgage rates, with the 30-year fixed rate actually rising since the first rate cut. Mortgage rates are closely linked to the 10-year US Treasury yield, which have also risen over the period. AdvertisementThe Federal Reserve's jumbo interest-rate cut in mid-September was welcome news to prospective homebuyers, with the expectation that a lower fed funds rate would help push mortgage rates lower. According to data from Mortgage News Daily, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate has jumped about 47 basis points since the Fed rate cut, to 6.62% from 6.15%. Whether that will manifest itself in lower mortgage rates is up in the air.

Your injector doesn't have the right credentialsTreatments from unlicensed or unqualified injectors are always dangerous, whether you're getting Botox or "vampire facials," because they can neglect basic safety protocols. If you're getting filler, the office should be stocked with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down filler, in case you get a filler occlusion. You don't like your injector's styleIf your injector's own Botox and filler looks too dramatic to you, it's worth being cautious, according to Rabach. Luis Tiant, a Cuban-born right-hander who was one of baseball’s most entertaining and charismatic pitchers, and whose personal story was among the game’s most poignant, died on Tuesday. His death was announced by the Boston Red Sox, for whom he pitched in the 1970s. The team did not say where he died or cite the cause. El Tiante, as he was known on the sports pages — or Loo-ee! as stadiums full of fans would often chant while he was on the mound — won 229 games over 19 big-league seasons, playing for teams in six cities, notably Cleveland and Boston, where he led the Red Sox to a World Series and became one of the most beloved players in the team’s storied history.

Both players had been signed mid-season to cover for the growing injury list Kansas City is dealing with. But two more Butker field goals rebuilt Kansas City’s lead before another Saints TD once again made it a three-point game. Worthy was able to celebrate the moment in a special way, giving the touchdown ball to his mother in the stands to celebrate her birthday before exchanging a hug. Certain toilet paper, tissue and office paper brands are made with materials from eucalyptus trees, a non-native species to Portugal. CNN PortugalThe problem is eucalyptus trees are particularly flammable. The eucalyptus tree is native to Australia and provides food and shelter to koalas, among other wildlife. As the Portuguese paper and timber industries grew in the mid-1900s, so too did eucalyptus plantations, and the species now covers nearly 2 million acres. In California, the eucalyptus tree has been naturalized, meaning it now grows beyond the places it was planted.

The terror attack has helped push the Middle East to the brink of a wider regional war. CNN —A European spacecraft and two shoebox-size satellites are about to launch to survey the aftermath from NASA’s DART mission, which intentionally slammed into an asteroid named Dimorphos and altered its orbit two years ago. The European Space Agency’s Hera mission is expected to lift off aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 10:52 a.m. The spacecraft and its two CubeSat companions are slated to arrive at the asteroid Dimorphos, and the larger asteroid it orbits named Didymos, in late 2026. NASA planned the DART, or Double Asteroid Redirection Test, mission to carry out a full-scale assessment of asteroid deflection technology on behalf of planetary defense. But many questions remain, including whether the DART spacecraft merely left behind a crater or if its momentum completely reshaped Dimorphos.

Perhaps the most important thing to bring with you: a “go bag” full of emergency supplies. Go bags exist to save you from having to run around and gather items when a threatening situation is imminent. The contents of a family’s go bag could mean the difference between life or death, depending on how bad a situation becomes, according to Jonathan Sury, senior staff associate at the National Center for Disaster Preparedness, or NCDP, at Columbia Climate School. Your must-havesMost of the items disaster preparedness experts suggest you include in a go bag are things you can find around your house. Just because someone puts together a “go bag” does not mean that person is prepared, Montano warned.

Viktor Bout is brokering weapons sales to Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, per The Wall Street Journal. Houthi rebels have been attacking commercial shipping in the Red Sea since last year. According to an April Defense Intelligence Agency report, container shipping through the Red Sea has declined massively, alternative shipping routes are increasing voyage costs, and insurance premiums for Red Sea transits have spiked. CNN —Pope Francis has chosen 21 new cardinals in a move that once again shows his determination to reshape the group of churchmen who will elect his successor. Also among the new cardinals announced by the pope on Sunday are bishops from Indonesia, Algeria, Japan and the Ivory Coast. At the time of the pope’s announcement, there were 122 cardinals under 80 and able to vote in a future conclave. Church law technically limits the number of such cardinals to 120, but previous popes have also gone over that number. Cardinals are second only to the pope in the church hierarchy, hold senior positions in the Vatican and act as the pope’s main advisers.
