Neuberger Berman said earlier that it would support Ancora's case for change at Norfolk Southern, while Canadian asset manager EdgePoint also reaffirmed on Thursday that it would be voting its shares with the activist. Activist investor Ancora received a powerful endorsement in its efforts to secure a board change and to oust Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw on Monday, when proxy advisor Glass Lewis recommended the railroad's shareholders vote for 6 of Ancora's board nominees. "We believe Ancora has presented a compelling case for supporting a substantial overhaul of the Company's current leadership," Glass Lewis said in its report. Furthermore, Glass Lewis said Barber, Ancora's pick for CEO, and Jamie Boychuk, the activist's pick for COO, "have compelling credentials and track records." Ancora also seeks to install former CSX executive Boychuk as Barber's chief operating officer. Their support, coupled with Glass Lewis' endorsement, gives the activist powerful ammunition as it seeks to convince shareholders.

CNN —A historic bridge in Portland, Oregon, was shut down Monday morning after a derailed train car was seen leaning against a bridge support. Two cars had fully derailed on a Union Pacific line on the east side of the century-old Steel Bridge. “One train car is leaning against bridge structural support column,” Portland Fire and Rescue stated on X. The derailment happened after 35 train cars derailed in New Mexico on Friday, prompting evacuations that lasted until Sunday. Six of the derailed train cars were carrying propane, according to BNSF Railway.
