CNN —Donald Trump has yet to arrive in Washington, but he is already confronting the limitations of his electoral mandate. Trump has asserted his decisive November victory should clear any roadblocks standing in the way of his agenda. “The beauty is that we won by so much,” Trump told Time Magazine in a recent interview. “The mandate was massive.”Yet, Trump in the last month has already faced several high-profile defeats at the hands of his own party before even taking office. On Monday, Trump told reporters he didn’t expect DeSantis to name Lara to the post and distanced himself from the campaign pushing his daughter-in-law all together.

How often you should pee, according to experts

CNN —How often one should poop has been a hot topic, with experts saying the numerical range partly depends on several personal factors. During the day, most healthy people pee about six to eight times, said Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, a urologist at Orlando Health and CNN contributor. “For most, it’s reasonable to need to pee every (three to four) hours during the day,” Brahmbhatt added via email. There are several other minimally invasive treatments available, experts said, including medications, bladder Botox injections and types of nerve stimulation, Kim said. Unfortunately there aren’t as many treatments for underactive bladder, Kim said, except for self-administered intermittent catheterization, long-term catheterization and sacral neuromodulation, a bladder pacemaker.

The latest incident took place on Nov. 20, when an Air Force Osprey made a precautionary landing in New Mexico after pilots got warnings indicating they needed to land immediately. No airmen were injured and the aircraft wasn't damaged, according to a spokesperson for the Air Force Special Operations Command. But the Pentagon put a temporary pause on Osprey training flights out of what it described as an abundance of caution. A catastrophic failure of the prop rotor gearbox was determined to be the primary cause of an Osprey crash in Japan last December that killed seven airmen. “How did NAVAIR conclude that flight hours is the appropriate measure to prevent crashes, and why won’t NAVAIR disclose the cut-off number of flight hours utilized to ground some Ospreys, but not others?” the statement said.

Elon Musk said he plans to fund "moderate candidates" to challenge Democrats in safe seats. Elon Musk spent at least $277 million supporting President-elect Donald Trump and other Republican candidates in competitive races in 2024. It's not clear whether Musk meant that he would fund a Democratic primary challenger or a general election candidate to run against safe-seat Democrats like Neal. In 2024, Musk's super PAC spent more than $19 million in House races, backing Republican incumbents and candidates in competitive races across the country.

President-elect Donald Trump has called on Congress to raise or eliminate the debt ceiling. Going over the debt ceiling could lead to a default and deep recession. The debt ceiling is the unexpected debate in Washington this week after President-elect Donald Trump threw the annual holiday-season government funding talks into disarray. "Congress must get rid of, or extend out to, perhaps, 2029, the ridiculous Debt Ceiling," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Friday. A debt ceiling breach has become a political tool — one that Trump is trying to wield for the last timeThe debt ceiling limits the amount of money the federal government is allowed to borrow to pay for its programs and operations.

“This network is involved in emotion, mood and self-processing.”Our fight-or-flight response is mediated by the vagus nerve, which releases the neurotransmitter acetylcholine onto agitated organs to slow them down, Badran said. Vagus nerve stimulation can also increase the release of important brain chemicals such as serotonin and norepinephrine, which help regulate mood and are typically low in people with depression, Sasaki said. “The vagus nerve also helps control inflammation in the body,” higher levels of which have been linked to depression, Sasaki added. Floating fish farms used to be a common sight along Singapore's coast. But now, their numbers are dwindling: As of October, there were 74 sea-based fish farms left, down from 98 in 2023. Much like street peddlers and traditional villages, the floating fish farms are a part of Singapore's cultural and economic identity that is rapidly disappearing as the city-state evolves past its fishing village origins. Many locals still refer to these floating fish farms as "kelongs," even though they're not quite the same thing, Yeo said. He hopes to have a high-tech fish farm one day — ideally on land, where conditions are less unpredictable.

In the exit polls, about 1 in 8 voters who described Trump as “too extreme” still voted for him. Likewise, in the VoteCast survey, Trump won 1 in 6 voters who expressed concern that he would steer the country in an authoritarian direction. Trump won almost exactly the same share of voters who said in the VoteCast survey that he lacks the moral character to serve as president. Even among the voter groups most directly affected by these policies, Trump won substantial support from people who disagreed with him. In either case, the result was that Trump won far too many voters who supported legal abortion for Harris to prevail.

Older adults may still need to take vitamin D or calcium for overall health but should take different steps to protect from fractures or reduce the risk of falling. The draft recommendation is not yet final, but will be available on the task force’s website for public comment through January 21, along with a draft evidence review. “The other thing is that there were some questions about whether high doses might be beneficial of vitamin D and calcium,” Rao said. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium, and benefits the immune system, the brain and muscle performance, among other functions. Steps older adults can take to reduce their risk of falls and fractures include getting screened for osteoporosis, especially for women 65 and older, Rao said, and regular exercise.

Deutsche Bank strategists are expecting smaller European stocks to significantly outperform their larger counterparts in the coming months, citing three key factors that could drive this growth. Stimulant medications, and atomoxetine (a type of antidepressant), were more effective than placebos at reducing core ADHD symptoms during a 12-week period, found the study published Tuesday in the journal Lancet Psychiatry. Prior to conducting this study, Cortese and several other study authors had various types of affiliations — such as for consulting or research — with pharmaceutical companies, some of which manufacture ADHD medications. They also mention non-pharmacological treatment if medication is not effective or not well tolerated, but they don’t specify which kind of non-pharmacological treatment. “Self-perception of ADHD symptoms is fallible in all people. However, there are no ‘objective’ tests that can accurately measure ADHD symptoms.

Seven years ago, we took our ranch from three bedrooms to two to make the primary bedroom bigger. My daughters' sharing a room has led to little space, lots of clutter, and constant arguments. Half of that space went to our primary, and the rest was joined with the other remaining bedroom, creating an 11-by-12-foot space for our daughters to share. For me, the only logical solution was to make our bedroom bigger and have our kids share a room. My daughters' bedroom issues aren't the only reason we're doing so, but they're definitely a contributing factor.

Morgan Stanley has identified the companies that are set to benefit from Amazon 's launch of its new artificial intelligence chip. The Big Tech giant's cloud computing division Amazon Web Services launched its Trainium 2 AI chip earlier this month. AWS hopes these chips will help it diversify away from Nvidia , its primary AI chip supplier. Morgan Stanley believes seven companies, all based in Taiwan, are expected to be "major beneficiaries" of a widespread deployment of AWS' new chip. They are expected to be built by chipmaker TSMC and will be designed by Taiwanese firm Alchip , according to Morgan Stanley analyst Charlie Chan.

The good store is clean — the floors are swept, aisles open, merchandise in its place. They've walked into a local dollar store or pharmacy or department store and wondered whether there's been an explosion. Stuff spilling into aisles used to be a somewhat isolated problem, the sign of a particularly poorly run store. Gone are the days when supercheap labor made adequate levels of store staffing easy, though I will note that Robyn makes just over $9 an hour and Stephanie about $15.50. If it's no longer cheap or convenient to pop by the dollar store or drug store, what's the point?
