CNBC's Jim Cramer on Friday walked investors through next week's market action, highlighting the Federal Reserve's next meeting and earnings from Super Micro Computer. Despite the slew of earnings next week, Cramer said the presidential election will steal Wall Street's attention. Tuesday marks election day, and the polls remain deadlocked between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Cramer called Super Micro Computer's report "the most intriguing story" next week as shares declined recently when the tech company's auditor, Ernest & Young, resigned. The Fed will issue its decision on interest rates Thursday, and Cramer said the central bank needs to make a cut.

English soccer giants Manchester United on Friday confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as their new manager, shortly after sacking Erik ten Hag. In a statement on the club's website, Manchester United said they were "delighted" to welcome the 39-year-old Portuguese manager as head coach, subject to visa requirements. "Rúben is one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football," Manchester United said in the statement. By stark contrast, Manchester United have endured a dreadful start to their Premier League campaign. Both presidential campaigns have discussed ideas for cutting housing costs. Economists say lowering labor and building material costs is far more important to home building. Housing policy experts and economists disagree, saying lower energy costs would not significantly boost construction or make homes cheaper. Notably, under the Biden administration, the US has produced and exported more crude oil than ever before in the country's history, even as housing costs have soared. CNN —An electric motorcycle, made by Swedish-Kenyan manufacturer Roam completed a 6,000-kilometer (3,700-mile) journey from Nairobi, Kenya, to Stellenbosch, South Africa, in 17 days, using only solar power. “(We wanted) to break a lot of boundaries on how traversing through sub-Saharan Africa is possible without pre-installed charging infrastructure,” Masa Kituyi, Roam product owner and one of the riders on the expedition, tells CNN. However, he insists that this mammoth journey would still be possible for people without a solar support car. MANILA, Philippines — Police in the Philippines said Wednesday that they had arrested three suspects in the kidnapping of an American in the country’s south and that they believe the victim, who was shot in the leg during the abduction, is still alive. Two of the suspects in the Oct. 17 kidnapping of Elliot Onil Eastman, 26, in Sibuco town in Zamboanga del Norte province surrendered separately and pointed to a third suspect, who was arrested in Sibuco, police officials said. Three other suspects, who may be holding Eastman, have been identified, police said, adding that more people could be involved. He has been posting Facebook videos of his life in Sibuco, a remote and poor coastal town, where the suspects spotted him, Galvez said. Although sentiment is improving (more on that soon), poll after poll suggests that Americans hold largely negative views about the US economy. And the US economy remains a job-creation machine, adding 368,000 jobs per month on average during the Biden administration, a record high. But they’re still growing at a 3.9% adjusted rate, according to the Department of Labor. A recent study from the Brookings Institution, released last week, found a correlation between economic sentiment and political affiliation with the party in control of the White House. When Trump took office, Republican economic sentiment surged, while Democratic sentiment cratered.

I do think that seeing a woman on the ballot will, hopefully, encourage more women to vote, even if they don't vote for Harris. At the time, I thought it was going to be a landslide, like 'We're about to have our first woman president.' I don't think everybody in the U.S. will ever be ready for a woman president, but I don't think everybody in the U.S. was ready for a Black president either. Even if Kamala wins, I don't think everybody in the U.S. is ready for a woman president, just like they weren't ready for a Black president. I think Harris is just bringing a lot of new people into the process who haven't necessarily felt included before.

But new research suggests that one English woman convicted of witchcraft and condemned to be hanged may have escaped the noose. Alice Molland – who has long held the tragic record of being the last woman in England to be hanged as a “witch” – was sentenced to death in 1685. In June 1685, Avis Molland – by now widowed – emerges in court records as an informant about a potential revolt, at a time when the Duke of Monmouth was attempting a rebellion against the king. Avis Molland died a free woman eight years later. Worland has spent 18 years unearthing victims’ details, and has successfully campaigned to have memorials to executed “witches” in Colchester and Chelmsford.

Many women start experiencing menopausal symptoms during those years of perimenopause, such as irregular periods, fatigue, sleep disturbances, hot flashes and weight gain. For most women, periods don’t stop suddenly, although there are exceptions when menopause is induced by surgery or certain medical treatments that stop ovarian function. Perimenopause is the several years preceding menopause, so the most common age for women to begin perimenopause is in their 40s. During perimenopause, hormone levels fluctuate a lot, and a test one day may look very different than one the next. CNN: Where should people go for more information on perimenopause and menopause?

London CNN —Germany escaped a recession in the third quarter, official data showed Wednesday, offering some relief to Europe’s biggest economy as its fortunes falter. Destatis revised down GDP figures for the second quarter from -0.1% previously. Germany’s economy shrank last year for the first time since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The outlook isn’t much brighter: the International Monetary Fund sees zero economic growth this year, marking the weakest performance among major economies. A sharp drop in profit at Volkswagen only intensified the bad news on economic growth.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday discussed the tricky nature of bad quarters, saying management needs to explain and not gloss over any misses or poor results. Cramer said every earnings shortfall is "nuanced beyond belief," with some more difficult for Wall Street to parse than others. The company, which had been seeing success with its popular weight loss and diabetes drugs, failed to properly explain its shortfall, Cramer said. And while management from Wingstop highlighted the bright spots of the quarter, they largely did not acknowledge the earnings miss, he continued. AMD, Eli Lilly and Wingstop did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Retail investors have increasingly focused in on Trump Media & Technology , Rumble and Phunware as stocks that can benefit if the Republican presidential nominee for president prevails. Trump Media & Technology, which owns the alternative social media platform TruthSocial, trades under a ticker — DJT — that's also the initials for the business mogul-turned-politician. On Tuesday alone, retail traders were net buyers of Trump Media to the tune of $14.4 million. Schwarz said there's no reason for Trump Media to even be publicly traded given its business fundamentals and high price-to-sales ratio. September's payrolls report exceeded expectations, but economists see weak gains for October. Even with lower expectations, a poor print could reset the market's narrative around a soft landing. AdvertisementThe narrative around ongoing labor-market strength revived with September's payrolls report, which topped economists' expectations by over 100,000 jobs. "The October jobs report will likely show a severe but short-lived hit from hurricanes Helene and Milton," Adams said. Another sign that September's jobs numbers may have been overstated is that other employment indicators haven't started to trend upwards.

CNN —A “staggering array” of witches’ marks have been discovered on the walls of a Tudor property in England. News of the discovery, aptly timed to coincide with Halloween, was released by English Heritage, a charity that looks after hundreds of historic monuments, buildings and sites. These include a “staggering array” of designs, according to English Heritage, though there’s a notable concentration in the servants’ wing of the hall. Over the course of two years, long-time English Heritage volunteer Rick Berry discovered and mapped around 20 carvings at the Tudor property. In 2019, hundreds of witches’ marks were found scratched into the walls of an English cave system in the East Midlands, central England.

Pulque is the oldest ancestor of two of Mexico's most popular alcoholic drinks, tequila and mezcal. It's not nearly as popular as the other two, but that wasn't always the case. In the late 1800s, pulque was Mexico's most-consumed alcoholic drink.
