Asian American support for Donald Trump was 5 points higher this election cycle than in 2020, marking a slight shift to the right. The NBC News Exit Poll of early and Election Day voters indicated that 54% of Asian American voters chose Harris, while 39% voted for Trump. Harris lost seven points compared to Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) support for Biden in 2020. “The pendulum has started to swing back.”Ramakrishan pointed out that previous polling showed that the economy was a major priority for the Asian American electorate. And for the Asian American community, a group that owns more than 3 million small businesses, that perception was particularly effective.

Several U.S.-listed funds tracking global stocks pulled back in Wednesday's session as investors considered Donald Trump's victory harmful to international equities. "While the investing landscape remains favorable in the U.S., international markets are very exposed to tariff policy, " said Yung-Yu Ma, chief investment officer at BMO Wealth Management. Republicans favored to win the SenateIn the Senate, Democrats currently have a 51-49 edge, but Republicans are favored to capture the majority. They’re all but guaranteed to win an open seat in ruby-red West Virginia, with Democrat-turned-independent Sen. Joe Manchin retiring. SYDNEY, Australia — The Pacific Island nation of Palau, important to the U.S. military amid tensions with China, and among a dozen allies of Taiwan, holds a national election for president on Tuesday. The U.S. military is constructing an over-the-horizon radar on Palau, scheduled to be completed in 2026. To counter the fall in Chinese tourist arrivals, Palau has opened direct flights to Japan and Australia, with support from those governments. Tax reform has emerged as an election issue, with Remengesau’s campaign arguing that big business is not paying enough, and pledging tax incentives for small businesses. During the election campaign, Remengesau said that Palau needs to “ensure that foreign influences do not overshadow our identity or compromise our independence.”His campaign did not respond to questions on which foreign influence he was referring to.

China’s J-20 stealth fighter entered service in 2017, officials said at the time. Stealth fighters are those that are designed to evade radar and other monitoring to conduct missions without being detected or intercepted. It’s not clear when the new J-35A fighter would be commissioned into military use and where the fighters would be deployed. China’s development of stealth fighters has for years been dogged by accusations that it stole crucial stealth fighter technology from the US. The J-35A is a “new type of stealth fighter jet independently developed by Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC),” a Chinese military affiliated outlet said this week.

Key ports on Canada's West Coast, including its largest container port in Vancouver and the Port of Prince Rupert, were shut down by a labor strike on Monday. According to the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, $800 million in trade flows through West Coast ports every day. Montreal processes 40% of all East Coast container traffic. Approximately $572 million in container trade arrives daily in the U.S. from Canada, according to U.S. Census data. A temporary loss of the Canadian West Coast trade gateway could push carriers to discharge import cargo along the already strained U.S. West Coast, said Alan Baer, CEO of OL USA, further increasing the dwell time of containers and elongating overall transits.

The CMSI study makes clear that a US invasion of Taiwan in 1945 — or a Chinese invasion today — would be difficult and risky.
