When you're interviewing for a job, there are all sorts of questions it's worth asking. will give you a sense of how adaptable the company is to change and how it invests in its workforce. Instead of waiting for that opening at the end, "ask questions as you go along," says My Perfect Resume career expert Jasmine Escalera. During the interview, look for moments in which you can build on your prospective employer's discussion to get your questions answered as well.

CNN —The care that comes after a cardiac arrest should include supporting mental health — especially for women, new research has found. The team compared the data on patients’ socioeconomic status and mental health with those in the general population, according to the study. The amount of women taking anxiety or depression medications after cardiac arrest was also greater than in women in the general population, said Smits, a postdoctoral researcher at Amsterdam University Medical Center in the Netherlands. “Mental health and stress make cardiac events worse and more frequent, and we know that cardiac events make mental health worse,” he said. If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, help is available.

A new report from Moody's on Wednesday warns that generative AI and deepfakes are among the election integrity issues that could present a risk to U.S. institutional credibility. In a letter to Rosenworcel, it encouraged the FCC to delay its decision until after the elections because its changes would not be mandatory across digital political ads. Some social media platforms have already self-adopted some sort of AI disclosure ahead of regulations. Google requires all political ads with modified content that "inauthentically depicts real or realistic-looking people or events" to have disclosures, but doesn't require AI disclosures on all political ads. Thirteen states have laws on election interference and deepfakes, eight of which were enacted since January.

New York CNN —John Deere announced it will lay off about 600 employees across three US factories as the Illinois-based company shifts production to a newly planned facility in Ramos, Mexico. In total, the three factories have roughly 4,175 production and maintenance employees. The Illinois factory primarily produces harvesting equipment such as combines, while the two Iowa factories manufacture construction and forestry equipment. “We do expect incremental demand decline in the back half of 2024,” Josh Beal, the company’s director of investor relations, said in the May earnings call. At the same time, manufacturing jobs across the country have plateaued at 13 million employees after recovering from a sharp pandemic-related downswing in 2020, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Recently, the client's parents told him they were going to up that amount — to $60,000 a year for the next 10 years — but that would be it. Boomers waiting to pass down their wealth until their kids are much older has partially contributed to the rise in geriatric millionaires, BI previously reported. Related storiesGideon Drucker, president and financial planner at Drucker Wealth, said he is also seeing more older people proactively passing down their wealth. He tends to work with clients in their 30s and 40s, while his dad, who leads their senior division, works with those clients' parents, figuratively and, in some cases, literally. One thing Drucker cautions against is giving your kids money in a way that might up their standard of living to a level they can't actually sustain.

Job seekers in today's competitive labor market are feeling whiplash compared to flush times during the Great Resignation, but new compensation data shows some roles are on the rebound. Businesses are on a hiring tear for three roles in particular — machine learning engineers, technical recruiters and office managers — so much so that they're raising the salaries they need to pay in order to attract the right talent. That's according to a new data analysis from Greenhouse, the hiring platform, and Pave, a compensation management platform. "Companies in general are just really hyper focused on, you know, profitability and how they can make their companies the most efficient," he adds. Here's how much salaries have changed for these jobs, and what that means for future hiring demand.

On the leafy campus of a Dutch-speaking university, students have for months been demanding that their institution break ties with Israeli academia over the war in Gaza. Their campaign borrows extensively from the U.S. campus protest playbook. The students have set up an encampment. They have staged daily demonstrations. But in Belgium’s capital, the protest at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, or V.U.B., has been far more peaceful because of a unique combination of factors: a supportive political environment (Belgium is a vocal critic of Israel); a proactive rector; strict protest rules; and, crucially, a tiny campus Jewish community that has chosen not to confront protesters despite discomfort over some of the protests.
