CNN —Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard will miss the rest of the preseason due to inflammation in his right knee, head coach Ty Lue said on Monday. Leonard, a two-time NBA champion, is yet to play for the Clippers this preseason and will sit out the team’s final warmup game against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday. Lue said Leonard would “continue to keep rehabbing” his knee this week, according to Reuters. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported last month that Leonard underwent a procedure on his right knee during the offseason. LeBron and Bronny are the first father and son to play in any NBA game at the same time, let alone on the same team. Bronny James entered the game as a substitute to begin the second quarter, joining his father on the court out of the timeout. LeBron James is beginning his record-tying 22nd season in the NBA, while LeBron James Jr. — known to all as Bronny — was the Lakers’ second-round draft pick this summer. LeBron sat out of the Lakers’ preseason opener against Minnesota last Friday night, resting up after a full week of training camp following a busy summer.

CNN —It might have been a preseason game, but it proved to be a historic one on Sunday night. During the Los Angeles Lakers’ preseason game against the Phoenix Suns, LeBron and Bronny James became the first father/son duo to play together on an NBA team. Bronny, whose jersey is emblazed with “James Jr.” across the back, was selected 55th overall by the Lakers in the 2024 NBA draft in June, joining his father at the franchise. Lakers head coach JJ Redick said he is “thrilled” to be part of a team with LeBron and Bronny. The team will open up the NBA regular season on October 22 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
