Diamond Sports — the owner of Bally Sports-branded regional sports networks — said Wednesday that it plans to drop all MLB teams from its channels except for the Atlanta Braves. A Diamond attorney made the comments before a U.S. bankruptcy judge on Wednesday as part of an update on the company's ongoing bankruptcy process and attempt at finalizing a reorganization plan. Some of those teams were already slated to see their contracts end this season, and some contracts are not being determined by the bankruptcy process, a Diamond spokesperson said. "To be clear, rejecting these teams is not our preferred path," Diamond attorney Andrew Goldman said on Wednesday. Goldman said Diamond had warned the league about this outcome in August, noting it was a possibility if the MLB rejected Diamond's latest proposal.

A settlement has been reached in a defamation lawsuit pitting an electronic voting machine manufacturer targeted by allies of former President Donald Trump against a conservative news outlet that aired accusations of vote manipulation in the 2020 election. The Delaware lawsuit, which takes issue with Newsmax reports over a five-week period in late 2020, is one of several stemming from reports by conservative news outlets following the election. Smartmatic also is suing Fox News for defamation in New York and recently settled a lawsuit in the District of Columbia against the One America News Network, another conservative outlet. Dominion Voting Systems similarly filed several defamation lawsuits against those who spread conspiracy theories blaming its election equipment for Trump's loss. Last year, in a case presided over by Davis, Fox News settled with Dominion for $787 million.

Madison, Wisconsin CNN —The mayor of a central Wisconsin city who ran for office on his opposition to absentee ballot drop boxes said Wednesday he did nothing wrong when he put on work gloves, donned a hard hat and used a dolly to cart away a drop box outside City Hall. Drop boxes were widely used in 2020, fueled by a dramatic increase in absentee voting due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wausau, with about 40,000 people, was among the cities that did not use an absentee drop box in the August state primary. The Wausau drop box was under video surveillance but had not yet been bolted down.
