Tesla shares fell about 6% on Thursday after Bloomberg reported that the electric vehicle maker is delaying the unveiling of its Robotaxi by two months. Tesla's stock slump on Thursday followed an 11-day rally that was sparked by a better-than-expected deliveries report for the second quarter. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has promised shareholders a robotaxi for years. In 2015, he said Tesla's cars would achieve "full autonomy" within three years. However, the company has yet to deliver a robotaxi, autonomous vehicle or technology that can turn its cars into "level 3" automated vehicles.

For more than six months, Russia has been carrying out a sabotage campaign across Europe, largely by proxy. “We’re seeing sabotage, we’re seeing assassination plots, we’re seeing arson. Russia’s sabotage campaign has, at times, smacked of a shotgun approach carried out by amateurs. In London in March, several men were charged with working with Russian intelligence services to set fire to a Ukrainian-linked warehouse. And French authorities last month detained a Russian-Ukrainian man who was allegedly building bombs as part of a sabotage campaign orchestrated by Moscow.

CNN —Iran is attempting to covertly stoke protests in the United States related to the conflict in Gaza, US Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said in a statement on Tuesday, posing as activists online and, in some cases, providing financial support to protesters. “I want to be clear that I know Americans who participate in protests are, in good faith, expressing their views on the conflict in Gaza — this intelligence does not indicate otherwise,” Haines said. “Americans who are being targeted by this Iranian campaign may not be aware that they are interacting with or receiving support from a foreign government,” she said. Those protests have been hugely divisive domestically, making them a ripe target for foreign actors — like Iran — interested in amplifying discord within the US. A US intelligence assessment released in December reported that Iran also tried to meddle in the 2022 midterm elections.

Tech companies plan on spending over $1 trillion on artificial intelligence. But the return on investment may take a long time and be disappointing, Goldman Sachs says. As companies prepare to spend over $1 trillion on artificial intelligence, a Goldman Sachs report examined the big question at hand: "Will this large spend ever pay off?" That sizable investment will go toward the data centers needed to run AI, the power grid, and AI chips. But shortages of those AI ingredients could lead to disappointing returns for companies.

But slowing down and saying less might have actually helped him perform better during Thursday's debate, Carmie McCook, a DC-based public speaking coach, told Business Insider. McCook said Biden also takes time to express his thoughts in speech, due to his lifelong stutter, which didn't help his optics. Apple announced on Thursday that its self-service repair program is now available in Europe. The program, dubbed Apple Diagnostics for Self Service Repair, gives consumers the ability to test products for optimal parts functionality and identify parts that may need repair without assistance from Apple or an independent repair provider. Apple first launched the self-service program in 2022, offering customers access to manuals, legitimate Apple parts and tools used by Apple to allow them to repair their own devices. The company said the self-service repair tool is part of an ongoing effort to extend the lifespan of its products. Customers can begin an Apple Diagnostics session on a second product to check the status and performance on a device that may need repair, according to a release.

The purpose of the network was to smuggle people, not bring in terrorists, one of the officials said. There was specific “derogatory information” linking those individuals to ISIS, the official said. In the latest case, the 400 migrants under scrutiny – mostly from Central Asian nations – are being screened purely because of their connection to the human smuggling network. The leadership of ISIS-K is mainly made up of Tajik nationals and the group has recruited from both countries. Tajik nationals have carried out a series of recent attacks in Europe on behalf of the group, including the Crocus Hall attack in Moscow in March that killed more than 100 people.

Amazon's ditching the plastic air pillows in its boxes
  + stars: | 2024-06-20 | by ( Katie Bartlett | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +1 min
Amazon said Thursday it has removed 95% of the plastic air pillows from its packaging in North America and will replace them with paper fillers made from 100% recycled content. It marks Amazon's largest plastic-packaging reduction effort and will help it remove nearly 15 billion plastic pillows annually. The e-commerce company began transitioning away from plastic filler in October 2023 when it announced its first U.S. automated fulfillment center to eliminate plastic-delivery packaging. Amazon collaborated with suppliers to instead source paper fillers that are also curbside recyclable. This is not the first step that Amazon has taken to reduce its packaging waste.
