The plaintiffs called AirTag "the weapon of choice of stalkers and abusers," and said it has been linked to murders this year of women from Akron, Ohio and Indianapolis. One plaintiff in Monday's lawsuit, Lauren Hughes, said her former boyfriend learned where she had moved to avoid him after placing an AirTag in her car's wheel well. The other plaintiff, Jane Doe, said her estranged husband tracked her after putting an AirTag in their child's backpack. The case is Hughes et al v. A lawsuit filed Monday in New York City alleges that Hollywood writer-director James Toback is a “serial sexual predator” who targeted and abused dozens of women over decades while often saying he wanted to cast them in his films. The Harvard Club of New York City, where the suit alleges Toback "lured" several of the women, is also named as a defendant. In some cases cited in the suit, Toback allegedly blocked women from escaping or chased them when they fled before sexually assaulting them. In several instances include in the suit, Toback allegedly masturbated in front of the women or on them, and penetrated them without their consent. The 89-page suit alleges assault, battery, false imprisonment, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence.
CNN —Apple has been sued by two women who allege their previous romantic partners used the company’s AirTag devices to track their whereabouts, potentially putting their safety at risk. But soon after its launch, some experts warned that the devices could be used to track individuals without their consent. This isn’t the first time AirTags have allegedly been used for unwanted tracking. In June, a woman from Indiana allegedly used one to track and ultimately murder her boyfriend over an alleged affair, according to reports. Earlier this year, Apple added more safeguards to the AirTag to cut down on unwanted tracking.

LOS ANGELES — The jury weighing the rape charges against “That ‘70s Show” star Danny Masterson announced Wednesday it was hopelessly deadlocked and a mistrial was declared. Masterson has also denied assaulting a fourth woman, identified as Jane Doe #4, who told the court she too had been raped by him. While the judge allowed testimony by Jane Doe #4, Masterson was not criminally charged with raping her. The panel, on Nov. 18, sent Olmedo a note saying they had been “unable to reach a unanimous decision” on any of the three forcible rape counts against Masterson. “You have been deliberating for an insufficient amount of time,” Olmedo said before excusing them for the holiday break.
A lawsuit accusing former “Saturday Night Live” star Horatio Sanz of grooming a teenage girl and sexually assaulting her two decades ago her was dismissed, according to a court filing. Lawyers for Sanz and NBCUniversal, the other defendants listed in the filing, did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday night. Sanz, who appeared on “Saturday Night Live” between 1998 and 2006, was 31. In a court filing in April, Sanz acknowledged knowing the teen but denied the allegations. After the suit was filed, a lawyer for Sanz, Andrew Brettler, called the claims "totally meritless" in an August 2021 statement.

CNN —The parties involved in a lawsuit brought by an undisclosed woman accusing former “Saturday Night Live” star Horatio Sanz of sexual assault two decades ago have agreed to dismiss the case, according to court records from the Supreme Court of New York. Both Sanz and NBC Universal, the parent company of “SNL,” had been named as defendants in the lawsuit. In her 2021 lawsuit, the woman said Sanz began grooming her when she was around 14 and sexually assaulted her when she was 17 years old, according to court documents. Sanz previously denied the allegations, with his attorney saying they were “categorically false.” CNN has reached out to NBC Universal for comment. Sanz was an “SNL” cast member from 1998 to 2006 and was the show’s first Latino cast member, according to IMDB.

An ex-California police sergeant was charged with more than a dozen crimes, including multiple allegations of sexual assault, officials said Thursday. Nicholas Bloed, formerly of the Stockton Police Department, was taken into custody Wednesday without incident by the U.S. The prosecutor’s office accused Bloed of committing “multiple” crimes while on duty. In a statement to NBC affiliate KCRA of Sacramento, the department said Bloed no longer worked for the department and declined to comment further. Police arrested a University of Kentucky student who was caught on camera using a racial slur and physically attacking two Black students on Sunday. The student tries to restrain Rosing, who appears to be visibly intoxicated and struggles to stay standing in the video. A university spokesperson confirmed to NBC News that Rosing was the student who was arrested. In his email to students, Capilouto, the university president, said the student employee victim "acted with professionalism, restraint and discretion."
