The Russian Defense Ministry said Ukrainian forces had fired at least three drones at Moscow on Sunday, the latest in a wave of attacks inside Russia demonstrating that few places are off limits after more than 17 months of war. One drone was destroyed in Odintsovo, outside Moscow, the Defense Ministry said, adding that the two others struck commercial buildings in the capital after being intercepted by Russian air defenses. Ukraine does not comment on attacks inside Russia that could be attributed to them, seeking to maintain secrecy and the element of surprise. Ukraine has also been accused of hitting military air bases deep inside Russia and oil facilities with drone attacks. They were followed by more at the end of that month in a high-end Moscow neighborhood.

June 30 (Reuters) - The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday agreed to decide whether workers can bring discrimination lawsuits based on unwanted workplace transfers that were allegedly motivated by bias, an issue that can make or break many cases. Muldrow appealed a lower court's ruling that the conduct by the police department could not form the basis of a discrimination lawsuit. The Supreme Court will hear the case in its next term, which begins in October. The Supreme Court on Friday took no action on a separate case questioning whether paid suspensions count as adverse employment actions under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. ☆ HPE to offer cloud computing service for artificial intelligence

June 20 (Reuters) - Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co (HPE) (HPE.N) on Tuesday said that it is rolling out a cloud computing service designed to power artificial intelligence systems similar to ChatGPT. That shift toward AI is shaking up the cloud computing market because data centers must be built very differently to handle such work. In a typical cloud computing data center, software is used to chop up a single physical server into many smaller "virtual" machines that can then be rented out to customers. But data centers for artificial intelligence take an opposite approach. Justin Hotard, executive vice president and general manager of HPE's high-performance computing and artificial intelligence unit, said the company will use its experience in supercomputers to offer a service specifically for what are called large language models, the technology behind services like ChatGPT.

☆ Airman Who Leaked Files Is Indicted on Charges of Mishandling Secrets

A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted Jack Teixeira, a Massachusetts Air National Guardsman who posted dozens of secret intelligence reports and other sensitive documents on a social media server, on six counts of retaining and transmitting classified national defense information. The filing of criminal charges in Boston federal court against Airman Teixeira, 21, comes about two months after F.B.I. But it was not immediately clear how many of the vaguely described incidents that underlie the charges had been previously disclosed and which ones were being made public for the first time. Airman Teixeira’s disclosures — exposing secrets of the United States, its allies and its adversaries — have bared rifts between the United States and its allies and given Russia information about intelligence-gathering methods, as news organizations have divulged some of the material. And Justice Department lawyers have said the extent of the information he leaked “far exceeds what has been publicly disclosed.”
