ERS Electronic declined comment. It was not immediately clear which Chinese company was interested in buying the small German firm, which is based in the southern state of Bavaria. BERLIN, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Germany, racing to end its reliance on Russian gas, plans to introduce new regulation that will make it possible to expropriate property to link offshore liquid natural gas terminals to the grid, Handeslblatt reported. Until earlier this year, some 55 billion cubic metres of gas were pumped to Germany each year through Nord Stream 1. Nord Stream 2 never went into operation. Germany, which has for decades fuelled its vast industrial sector with copious supplies of Russian gas, pledged after Russia's invasion of Ukraine to cut its imports from Russia to zero by 2024. Four planned floating LNG terminals, including one at Lubmin where the sub-Baltic gas pipelines land, are key to that ambition.
Berlin last month set out an energy relief package, including a gas price brake and a cut in fuel sales tax to help households and small and medium-sized business (SMEs). The government is expected to accept many of the commission's proposals once finalised, the sources said. Any companies that breach the conditions would have to pay back the price difference to the government. The gas procurement price for some 25,000 large industrial customers will be capped at 7 euro cents per Kwh for 70% of consumption, the sources added. Private households and small companies will benefit from the cap from March 2023 until the end of April 2024 while the measure could come into force in January for industrial customers.
BERLIN, Oct 27 (Reuters) - The German government plans to approve a Chinese takeover of the chip production of Dortmund-based company Elmos, business daily Handelsblatt reported on Thursday, citing government sources. The economy ministry is examining the sale of Elmos' chip factory to competitor Silex, a Swedish company that is a subsidiary of Chinese group Sai Microelectronics, Handelsblatt reported, adding approval is expected in the coming weeks. The expected decision would mean the government would likely defy advice from the domestic intelligence agency, Handelsblatt added. REUTERS/Ralph Orlowski/FilesBERLIN, Oct 18 (Reuters) - German prosecutors have searched the headquarters of Deutsche Bank (DBKGn.DE) in connection with an ongoing investigation of the multibillion-euro tax fraud scheme known as "cum-ex", Deutsche Bank said on Tuesday. Deutsche is one of many banks that prosecutors have searched in connection with the tax scheme that thrived more than a decade ago. Germany's largest lender, under Chief Executive Christian Sewing, has been trying to clean up the bank's reputation since he assumed the helm in 2018. Reuters has reported Deutsche Bank’s involvement in the scheme between 2006 and 2011, when bankers discussed the "reputation risks" of the matter.
Arne Schoenbohm came under scrutiny in recent weeks after a satire TV show highlighted his ties with a cybersecurity consultancy which counted as a member a German subsidiary of a Russian firm founded by a former KGB employee. He told Reuters he was no longer active in the council and had only delivered the keynote speech at its 10th anniversary in September as an exception after receiving the green light from the interior ministry. The consultancy last week protested it had not known of the alleged ties to Russian services of Protelion GmbH, which it expelled after the TV programme was aired. The consultancy said the interior ministry knew of the allegations since at least spring but "no information was provided to associations or potential customers by official bodies". The head of Protelion GmbH was not immediately available for comment.

BERLIN, Sept 29 (Reuters) - A brake on gas prices currently being discussed by the German government could cost between 15 billion and 24 billion euros, depending on market price developments, the Handelsblatt business daily reported on Thursday. The range, based on an estimate by the government's expert gas commission, is based on the measure applying only to private households, according to the report. A gas price cap, another measure being considered to curb skyrocketing gas prices in Germany, would come in at a similar cost, it added.
