White House spokesman John Kirby announced the pauses and the opening of two humanitarian corridors in northern Gaza to allow Palestinians to seek safety from Israel's military operations. The pauses emerged from discussions between U.S and Israeli officials in recent days, including talks Biden had with Netanyahu, Kirby told reporters. "We understand that Israel will begin to implement four-hour pauses in areas of northern Gaza each day, with an announcement to be made three hours beforehand," Kirby said. Palestinian Hamas gunmen killed 1,400 people and took 240 hostage during an Oct. 7 incursion into Israel, Israel has said. Israel is also opening two humanitarian corridors in northern Gaza, Kirby said.

BEIRUT, Nov 8 (Reuters) - Christie's auction house has removed two paintings by Lebanese artist Ayman Baalbaki from its London sale this week following complaints, according to emails seen by Reuters, with the artist criticising the decision as a form of "discrimination". Both are no longer available on the website for Christie's auction on modern and contemporary Middle Eastern Art. A third piece by Baalbaki, depicting red flags seemingly on fire, remains on sale. A Christie's spokesperson said: "Decisions relating to sales remain confidential between Christie's and our consignors." The email said it was "normal policy" to remove pieces "if a work receives multiple complaints" in order to avoid "damaging press".

They're looking for human remains, hoping to identify victims still missing a month on from the deadly Hamas attack. Be'eri is one of the communities hardest hit by the Hamas gunmen who burst through the Israel-Gaza border on Oct. 7, killing around 1,400 people and taking more than 240 hostage, according to Israeli tallies. Twisted, mangled cars still line the paths of the kibbutz, some houses stand gutted by fire, others are pierced by bullets. So far they have helped identify 10 victims, they say, leaving an estimated 25 people still unaccounted for.

Hamas is estimated to have a force of between 20,000 and 30,000 fighters, according to Israeli security sources. Hagari said that Israel was seeking to target Hamas field commanders to undermine Hamas capabilities to carry out counter attacks. Security sources said some intelligence was being gathered from Gaza residents fleeing south about the concentration of the tunnels.
