Unlike mutual funds, most ETFs don't distribute capital gains payouts, which can save brokerage account investors on annual taxes. There's no charitable deduction, but QCDs don't count toward adjusted gross income, meaning retirees don't need to itemize tax breaks to claim it.

A new lawsuit filed in California state court alleges country star Garth Brooks sexually assaulted and battered a hair and makeup artist working for him. In the 27-page lawsuit, Roe makes several allegations against the country singer. The lawsuit notes Roe first worked for Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, starting in 1999 and only started working for Brooks in 2017. Roe’s lawsuit is seeking damages and a jury trial. “We applaud our client’s courage in moving forward with her complaint against Garth Brooks,” Roe’s legal team wrote in a statement.

Prosecutors say she killed Timothy Hovanec in 2022 to keep him from seeing their children. The Hovanecs, who were divorcing, had three children, prosecutors said. She initiated divorce in 2020 and later began to deny her husband visitation with their children despite a court order allowing it, prosecutors said. Hovanec later confessed to authorities, saying she knew the drug would kill her hsband “within minutes,” the affidavit said. Theodorou obtained the substance used to kill the victim and also helped Hovanec bury her husband’s body, the affidavit said.

CNN —Country music star Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit from a “Jane Roe” who says she worked as a hairstylist and makeup artist for the award-winning singer. Against that backdrop, Scott Group, a senior analyst covering freight transportation at Wolfe, looked at transportation stocks in 2002, the last time there was a major port strike in the U.S. That strike, which lasted just 11 days and affected only West Coast ports, hurt transportation stocks throughout the protest, he said.
