German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday lost a confidence vote in the country's Bundestag, clearing the path for an early election in February. Scholz said Monday that he had called the vote not only for parliament but the whole of the electorate. It was made up of Scholz' Social Democratic Party (SPD), Lindner's Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Green party. However, the former finance minister also argued against fundamental positions of the SPD and Green party in the paper. The parties had also struggled to finalize Germany's 2025 budget and ultimately appeared unable to come to a resolution.

Secure messaging apps use end-to-end encryption to protect communications from hackers, surveillance and unauthorized access, so even messaging app providers can't read your messages. There are also paid messaging apps that are end-to-end encrypted, such as Threema. For example, RCS messages using Google Messages are automatically upgraded to end-to-end encryption, but Apple's implementation of RCS on iPhones is not end-to-end encrypted, Horwitz said. For example, Facebook Messenger offers end-to-end encrypted messages, but not in all cases. The app supports end-to-end encryption when messaging other users using Google Messages over RCS, according to the company.

CNN —TikTok has plans for another appeal as it faces a ban on January 19. The latest ruling follows last week’s decision by the same appeals court to uphold the law, citing national security concerns. It's not new for rich people and big companies to donate to presidential inaugurations. That's at least in part because it's so public — the money is less important than the message. They're all donating $1 million to Donald Trump's inauguration fund. Which is why we can see it's also not unheard of for Big Tech companies to make inaugural donations. AdvertisementThere's also the fact that while Trump and his allies continue to insist that they want to cut regulations, they also insist that they'll be cracking down on Big Tech.
