The Dharavi slum, about three-quarters the size of New York's Central Park, featured in Danny Boyle's Oscar-winning 2008 movie "Slumdog Millionaire". Only those who already lived in Dharavi before 2000, mostly ground-floor residents, will get free homes within the redevelopment. In interviews with Reuters, some Dharavi residents cited the billionaire's financial troubles as contributing to their concerns. Last month, a Mumbai court allowed SecLink to add Adani to its lawsuit, forcing the conglomerate to defend its position before judges. In early August, about 300 opposition supporters and residents gathered in Dharavi to object to Adani's involvement.

How to find a morning routine that works for you
  + stars: | 2023-08-20 | by ( Upasna Gautam | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +6 min
I don’t think my way is the best way, and I don’t believe it’s a universal prescription for the “best” morning routine. Prepping meals for breakfast or lunch can be a part of some people's early morning routines, but you should find out what works best for you. I often get asked how I stay consistent with a morning routine. I’m going to approach this new chapter of life and redefining my morning routine by answering those same four questions. When coming up with a new morning routine, prioritize one new goal at a time and build out a plan to achieve that goal, an expert suggests.

Aug 20 (Reuters) - An area of low pressure over the eastern Caribbean Sea has a 90% chance of becoming a cyclone in the next two days, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Sunday. "A tropical depression or storm could form as soonas later this afternoon," the Miami-based forecaster said. The system is forecast to move westward to west-northwestward at 10 to 15 miles per hour over the eastern and central Caribbean, before turning northward and potentially affecting the Dominican Republic and Haiti on Tuesday or Wednesday, the NHC said. The NHC defines a tropical cyclone as having a maximum sustained surface wind speed (using the U.S. 1-minute average) is 33 kt (38 mph or 62 kilometers per hour) or less. 10-year Treasury yields are surging as the economy stays hot. For the first time since 2007, 10-year yields rose above 4.3% on Thursday after seeing a 31% surge since April. If or when that eventually happens, Treasury yields are likely to follow, presenting those who hold the assets with an opportunity. Bond yields fall when demand for the assets rise, pushing up their price. David Kelly, the chief global strategist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, sees 10-year rates averaging 3.7% in the years ahead.

The U.K. has faced criticisms from some in the industry that it is posing barriers to its fintech entrepreneurs and forcing them to consider listings overseas. The U.K. has created an investment vehicle to back growth-stage financial technology companies until they can go public, in a bid to bolster Britain's global image as a fintech investment hub. It marks a rare commitment to a specialized fund focused on fintech backed by mega-industry players. While fintech-focused funds like Augmentum Fintech and Anthemis Group exist, the U.K. has yet to see a fintech-oriented fund that came about from a government-led strategy. The fund also counts Philip Hammond, the former U.K. finance minister, as an advisor.

The Deloitte company logo is seen at their office in Gurugram, India, June 13, 2023. The auditor's resignation has brought fresh scrutiny of the financial management at Adani Group, led by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani. "The Audit Committee (of Adani Ports) was of the view that the grounds advanced by Deloitte for resignation as Statutory Auditor were not convincing or sufficient to warrant such a move," it said. Adani Ports has named MSKA & Associates, an independent member firm of BDO International, as its new auditor, it said in the statement. Deloitte in May first pointed to certain transactions flagged by Hindenburg in its report and gave only a qualified opinion related to Adani Ports, indicating concerns by a company's auditor.

U.S. private equity group Bain Capital said its recent agreement to buy Adani Capital was aimed at tapping the "underbanked" segment of India's economy. In July, the Boston-based firm agreed to acquire 90% of Adani Capital and Adani Housing, buying out all of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani's family's private stake in the company. The deal will provide a crucial lending perform to India's micro, small and medium enterprises — a market that is growing rapidly, said Barnaby Lyons, a partner and global co-head of Bain Capital Special Situations. "Just the structurally underbanked nature of the economy means that there is a ... need for innovative finance platforms like Adani Capital," he told CNBC's "Street Signs Asia" on Thursday. "This specific business sits in a segment — small lending to micro SMEs, the agricultural space and affordable housing, which actually benefits from some of the best demand supply dynamics."

Deloitte and Adani Ports did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comments. Deloitte's decision to quit as Adani Ports' auditor might come as soon as Monday, the source added.

With bitcoin's price and trading volume still little changed, Bernstein is highlighting other crypto assets with good opportunities for investors. Bitcoin investors have been feeling deja vu as the setup for the next bull run takes shape. "It is time to dial up the crypto exposure, either through crypto equities or direct digital asset exposure for multi-asset strategies," he said. However, several investing themes within the market have emerged in recent years, and Bernstein has identified opportunities in specific assets to play each segment. Chhugani identified a seventh category, crypto games and prediction markets, but said market leaders in that space have yet to emerge.
