Propagandists seeking to influence elections around the globe have tried to use ChatGPT in their operations, according to a report released Wednesday by the technology’s creator, OpenAI. OpenAI said in its report that this year it has stopped people who tried to use ChatGPT to generate content about elections in the U.S., Rwanda, India, and the European Union. They also used ChatGPT to create social media posts in support of those sites, according to the report. They were part of a larger campaign that repeatedly spammed pro-party posts on X, a documented propaganda campaign that posted messages — often the same few messages — more than 650,000 times. According to OpenAI’s report, they also tried to get ChatGPT to tell them the default login credentials for other companies that provide industrial control systems software.

Major infrastructure upgrades meant to protect Florida’s Tampa Bay area from flooding are months away from completion, as the vulnerable region braces for what could be the worst hurricane in more than a century, officials said. Hurricane Milton is expected to strike the Tampa area overnight Wednesday and into Thursday morning with life-threatening storm surge of up to 15 feet, said Austen Flannery, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Tampa office. A dockworkers strike begins. Back in the States, a dockworkers strike could upend an economy finally on the mend. Tuesday morning marked the start of a dockworkers strike that will shutter dozens of US ports that handle about half of all US ocean imports. The Iranian attack was largely thwarted, and the dockworkers strike could be short-lived. That's thanks in part to strong demand in China.

I worry they're in for a rude awakening once they grow up and have less access to luxurious trips. I didn't know anything about luxury travel until even later when my career started to take the form of freelance travel writing. This happened to be around the time my twins were born — so, unlike their parents, they've known nothing but over-the-top luxury travel their whole lives.
