Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is the cofounder of an "anti-woke" ETF firm. The company was set up last year and now manages assets worth more than $1 billion. Ramaswamy's firm is a riposte to the ESG-centric policies of some big investment firms. Last month he said the "big three" investment firms – BlackRock, State Street, and Vanguard – represented "arguably the most powerful cartel in human history." Ramaswamy is vying with Florida governor Ron DeSantis for second place in opinion polls, but both lag some distance behind former President Donald Trump in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

DeSantis appointed the co-founder of right-wing parental rights group to the state's ethics committee. The group, Moms for Liberty, says its mission is to "stoke the fires of liberty." The group has proposed book bans and fought against mask mandates and teachings about racism and gender issues. The group, however, has rejected the idea that they are seeking to ban books. Moms for Liberty certainly isn't," Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice told NewsNation earlier this year.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is running for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, was booed at a vigil for victims of the Jacksonville shooting, but online posts share an altered clip replacing the boos with a “We want Trump” chant. The clip, attributed to CNN, was never aired by the television network, a CNN spokesperson said. The clip includes a CNN logo with a chyron that reads, “DESANTIS HECKLED IN JACKSONVILLE” and shows DeSantis interrupted by people chanting, “We want Trump!”Another example can be seen on Facebook (here). The clip stems from a prayer vigil for the Jacksonville shooting victims on Aug. 27. A pro-Trump chant was not heard at the Jacksonville shooting vigil, and a CNN spokesperson said the network never aired the fake clip circulating on social media.

Midterm exit polls showed that a bump in young voters, and especially women, helped Democrats, and women voters swinging from Trump helped deliver the White House to Biden in 2020. Biden campaign officials, the Democratic National Committee and rights groups told Reuters that abortion rights stopped an expected "red wave" Republican takeover of the Senate in 2022, and they believe it will draw more Democrats and some independent and Republican voters to Biden in 2024. WASHINGTON, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Residents of Florida were largely spared a devastating blow from Hurricane Idalia this week, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also appeared to avoid the political peril that could have hurt his campaign for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. DeSantis faced a similar test this week when he suspended his campaign to oversee his state's response to Hurricane Idalia. "The real work comes post-storm, and seeing what the damage is and how he reacts," Christian Ziegler, the head of the Florida Republican Party, told Reuters. In the lead-up to the storm, DeSantis held several press conferences per day, always flanked by a bevy of emergency response officials. On the other side, Republican Florida Governor Rick Scott touted his response to 2017's Hurricane Irma in a successful bid for U.S. Senate the following year.

"Mark is a true innovator who has transformed for the digital age two of the world's most respected news organizations," Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav said.
