Soda is making a comeback

Cans of Dr Pepper soda are displayed on June 3, 2024 in San Anselmo, California. While consumers are drinking more Coke, Coke Zero, Dr Pepper and Canada Dry, Pepsi’s soda sales are struggling. ‘Diet Coke Break’“Dirty soda,” a popular TikTok trend that combines soda with syrup and cream, has also driven interest in soda brands among younger consumers interested in creating their own soda concoctions. TikTok has also recently become filled with “Dirty Diet Coke,” “Crispy Diet Coke” and “DietCokeBreak” recipe videos where people leave cans of Diet Coke in the fridge for weeks and then pour them into a glass, sometimes with citrus powder, to get the most fizziness. Singer Dua Lipa gave Coke its latest viral hit this month when she posted a video sharing her Diet Coke recipe, which combines Diet Coke, pickle juice and jalapeño sauce.

Analysis: Donald Trump’s campaign of relentless lying
  + stars: | 2024-11-01 | by ( Daniel Dale | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +9 min
Washington CNN —The United States that Donald Trump describes in his rally speeches would be pretty bad if it actually existed. For the third consecutive presidential election, the Republican presidential nominee is running a relentlessly dishonest campaign for the world’s most powerful office. President Joe Biden, Trump’s initial opponent in this election, and Harris, Trump’s current opponent, certainly don’t. Nine years into Trump’s political career, daily fact-checking still isn’t happening enough. No matter what CNN writes, no matter how many “Pinocchios” The Washington Post awards him, he knows that far more of his supporters will hear the uncorrected false claim – through social media, pro-Trump media outlets and, yes, even many mainstream media outlets – than hear the truth.

An angry-looking mynah bird has become a viral video star after landing directly in front of a highway traffic camera in New Zealand. The black-and-yellow tropical bird stares curiously into the camera overlooking a section of road near Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city, its beak open as it appears to squawk loudly. Mynah birds, which have the ability to mimic human speech and are often kept as pets, are native to Asia. “A mynah annoyance like this can make the roads a bit tricky to see,” the agency said. “Thankfully the mynah didn’t stick around long and our bird’s eye view of the road was soon restored.”

The number of E. coli cases linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders has risen to 90, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday, up from 75 reported cases last Friday. The slivered onions used on the burgers are the “likely source” of the outbreak, the CDC said. The true number of cases linked to the Quarter Pounders is likely much higher than the 90 reported so far. Thirteen states have reported cases: Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming. According to McDonald’s, 900 restaurants across 12 states received the onions from Taylor Farms.

Additional cases associated with the outbreak have also been reported, bringing the total number of illnesses to 90 and hospitalizations to 27. “It is not necessary to avoid eating onions or other foods made with onions,” the CDC said. Diced onions used at McDonald’s have also not been linked to this outbreak, according to the FDA. Beef patties used on Quarter Pounders were also part of the investigation, which started on October 22. McDonald’s announced on Sunday that they would resume selling Quarter Pounders in all restaurants this week, but the 900 restaurants that had previously received slivered onions from Taylor Farms would not include onions on these sandwiches.

When I learned how to really cook, Trader Joe's frozen meals became less useful. I made frequent trips as a college student and after I graduated, but eventually, shopping at Trader Joe's became impractical for me. Experts told BI that all three companies face slumping EV sales and brutal competition in China. BMW and Mercedes-Benz have issued profit warnings in recent weeks amid slumping EV sales in Europe and brutal competition in China, while Volkswagen is also facing a reckoning. German carmakers are losing out to Chinese EV makers such as BYD. Much of Trump's closing message is focused on illegal immigration, one of the centerpieces of his campaign. The interview, which was widely hyped by Trump and his supporters, was a snapshot of his, at best, untraditional attempt at a campaign closing message and, at worst, his tendency to step on his own policy pushes. The discipline of the Harris campaign contrasts with that of Trump, whose late-cycle rallies have maintained the sort of rambling, unfocused structure he has long been known for. That dynamic can be seen even in his final speeches as Trump tries to close out his third presidential campaign. “This joke does not reflect the views of President Trump or the campaign,” Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser, said in a statement shortly after the joke was made.

Legal experts say an attempt to overturn the 2024 election results would be more difficult than in 2020. And a lost Chopin waltz is discovered after 200 years. Legal experts say those changes would make another attempt to overturn the result of the election much more difficult and unlikely. If Trump attempted to overturn the election result in Congress, he’d be up against the bipartisan Electoral Count Reform Act. This election season, voters said they are disillusioned by both major parties, especially over the handling of the war in Gaza.
