"No masks shall be worn in the store or support facility unless an associate has a valid medical note exempting him or her from this requirement," the memo said. Employees must provide a valid medical note to a store manager, divisional manager, manager, or human resources, the memo said. "Without disclosing the medical diagnosis or confidential medical information, the medical note should clearly state the reason for the exemption and include the estimated duration, if applicable," the memo said. A top Russian general in Ukraine is accusing the Kremlin of "decapitating" the war effort. Maj. Gen. Ivan Popov said he was giving honest feedback to his bosses, and was immediately fired. In his voice note, Popov said he was faced with the choice of either telling his bosses what they wanted to hear or to "call a spade a spade." As of Wednesday evening, neither the Russian state media nor the Defense Ministry has commented on Popov's remarks, whether he has been fired, or on the circumstances of such a dismissal. Gurulyov, the state duma member who published Popov's voice note, confirmed to Russian state TV on Wednesday that Tsokov was killed.

CNN —A senior Russian general in command of forces in occupied southern Ukraine says he was suddenly dismissed from his post after accusing Moscow’s Defense Ministry leadership of betraying his troops by not providing sufficient support. Gen. Ivan Popov was the commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army, which has been engaged in heavy fighting in the Zaporizhzhia region. He is one of the most senior officers to have taken part in the bloody Russian campaign in Ukraine. The recording was posted on the messaging app by Andrey Gurulev, a member of the Russian Parliament and former deputy commander of the Southern Military District. Another Russian commander, Gen. Sergey Surovikin, who has not been seen in public since the failed Wagner-led rebellion last month, is “resting,” a Russian lawmaker said Wednesday.

Opinion | Why I Still Love the New York Mets

Chip … chip … chip. I can feel the New York Mets chiseling out a piece of my soul every week. This is far from the first time the Mets have ripped out my vitals. In 2007, the team blew a seven-game divisional lead with 17 games to play. The Mets were in the middle of blowing another divisional lead, but needed only one win to make the playoffs.

If Zaslav anoints a Licht replacement without the CEO title, even if the functions of the job don't change much, media observers will see it as a less lofty role.

CNN —A government official in India who drained a reservoir to retrieve a phone he dropped while taking a selfie has been suspended from his job. Vishwas had been out with friends last Sunday afternoon when it slipped from his grasp at the scenic spot in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarhwith. He also said that he had asked others at the reservoir to try to retrieve the phone, but they had been unable to reach it as there was too much water. His suspension order, seen by CNN, also claims that Vishwas did not receive permission to drain the water. In his video statement, however, Vishwas insists the water he drained was from the overflow section of the dam and “not in usable condition” anyway.

While Ukraine has fewer guns firing fewer shells, it appear to be doing more damage than Russia. But while Ukraine has fewer guns firing fewer shells, they appear to be doing more damage even though, with some notable exceptions, they are using the same weapons as their Russian opponents. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated in February that Russia was firing around four times as many shells as Ukraine. This suggests an improvement of a factor of 7-10, which is roughly what we see in the ratios of artillery shells: casualties above. A vast number of Ukrainian drone videos show this process in operation.
A man walks past an ad for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 smartphone at the company's Seocho building in Seoul on Jan. 31, 2023. Samsung Electronics reported a likely 96% plunge in first-quarter operating profit on Friday, worse than analysts had forecast, as a chip glut worsened and buyers slowed purchases amid a global economic slowdown. The world's largest memory chip and TV maker estimated its operating profit fell to 600 billion won ($455.50 million) in January-March, from 14.12 trillion won a year earlier, in a short preliminary earnings statement. The profit fell short of a 873 billion won Refinitiv SmartEstimate, weighted toward analysts who are more consistently accurate. Revenue likely fell 19% from the same period a year earlier to 63 trillion won, Samsung said.
Samsung estimated its operating profit fell to 600 billion won ($455.5 million) in January-March, from 14.12 trillion won a year earlier, in a short preliminary earnings statement. The production cut signal is unusually strong for Samsung, which previously said it would make small adjustments like pauses for refurbishing production lines but not a full-blown cut. The first-quarter profit fell short of a 873 billion won Refinitiv SmartEstimate, weighted toward analysts who are more consistently accurate. It was the lowest since a 590 billion won profit in the first quarter of 2009, according to company data. Revenue likely fell 19% from the same period a year earlier to 63 trillion won, Samsung said.

Shares in Rolls-Royce have surged 60% since the start of the year, lifted by optimism about a recovery in air travel and Erginbilgic's turnaround plans. The company on Friday named McCabe, a BP executive, as its new chief financial officer, to join later this year. New finance chief McCabe is currently senior vice president, finance for the customer and products division of BP. The previous civil aerospace boss Chris Cholerton was named group president, taking on responsibility for Rolls-Royce's nuclear operations, including temporarily as interim CEO of its small modular reactors (SMR) unit. Rolls-Royce said the previous SMR boss, Tom Samson, would leave with immediate effect.
Credit Suisse restated its past earnings to reflect a new divisional structure last year. Credit Suisse Group AG delayed its annual report to address a late-night request from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for more information on how the bank restated cash flows after restructuring its divisions. PHOENIX, Feb 10 (Reuters) - Patrick Mahomes will look to pull one more rabbit out of his hat on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs face the Philadelphia Eagles at Super Bowl 57. Mahomes overcame a high-ankle sprain in the divisional round to get the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl in four years, producing a heroic late-game sprint to help clinch the AFC Championship. Mahomes has helped his favorite target Travis Kelce become one of the greatest tight ends ever to play the game. Kelce is keen to banish memories of their last Super Bowl appearance two years ago, when Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccanneers humiliated them 31-9. "The last taste I had in my mouth of the Super Bowl, it wasn't too good," said Kelce, who will make history at State Farm Stadium with his brother, Eagles center Jason Kelce, as the first siblings to play each other in a Super Bowl.

REUTERS/Caitlin O'HaraPHOENIX, Feb 7 (Reuters) - A near-historic Philadelphia Eagles pass rush will face the ultimate test on Sunday in Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, an MVP favourite with no interest in ceding the Super Bowl spotlight. "I don't know if you can contain him - I just don't know, he's that good. He's so mentally tough," head coach Andy Reid told reporters at the Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday. Cornerback James Bradberry said that it would take everything in the Eagles arsenal to stop Mahomes from collecting his second Super Bowl ring.
He finishes with numerous NFL records and seven Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brady returned to the field less than two months after making that announcement to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, marking his 23rd season. Pledging that his retirement is "for good" this time, Brady ends a 23-season career with seven Super Bowl wins under his belt. Brady played for the New England Patriots from 2000 to 2019 and joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020. Outside the NFL, Brady has faced other losses mainly pertaining to his investments with the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is retiring from football. His seven Super Bowl titles are more than any single organization has won. He was twice foiled in the Super Bowl by the New York Giants. Brady racked up yardage but Tampa Bay fired its offensive coordinator, Byron Leftwich. Look again, though, at the piercing final play from that game: A 30-yard Rams field goal, the ball snapped from the Tampa Bay 12-yard line.
There are no shortage of storylines: Kansas City coach Andy Reid goes against his old team — which he led to Super Bowl 39 — in a game that’s also the first matchup of Black starting quarterbacks in the Super Bowl with Mahomes and Philadelphia’s Jalen Hurts. This was their fifth straight trip to the AFC title game and will be their third Super Bowl appearance in that span. The Eagles clobbered the Niners 31-7 in the NFC title game earlier Sunday. Philadelphia is back in the Super Bowl five years after beating the New England Patriots 41-33 on Feb. 4, 2018. Now a mostly new generation of Eagles — led by coach Nick Sirianni and Hurts — will come to Arizona to try and win another title.
