SEOUL, South Korea — The head of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s governing party on Friday signaled more openness to his removal as president for plunging the key U.S. ally into chaos with a short-lived declaration of martial law, reversing his position the day before an impeachment vote. Han Dong-hoon, leader of the conservative People Power Party (PPP), had earlier said he opposed impeaching Yoon because it would only create more turmoil. The PPP, which repudiated Yoon’s martial law declaration, had asked him to leave the party but said earlier that it opposed the impeachment motion. Six opposition parties had proposed impeaching Yoon over the martial law order, which banned political activity and censored the media. Blinken also reaffirmed the “ironclad” nature of the U.S. alliance with South Korea, which it views as an important bulwark against North Korea, China and Russia, and which hosts almost 30,000 American troops.

Musk financed RBG PAC, according to the report the group filed Thursday night with the Federal Election Commission. The super PAC, which did not disclose its donors before the election, launched ads contending that Trump did not support a federal abortion ban. But during this campaign, Trump backed away from that position and instead declared that he supported states' rights to decide abortion laws. Musk also gave $3 million to the MAHA Alliance, a super PAC affiliated with Robert F. Kennedy's "Make America Healthy Again" push, in late October. Trump selected Musk to advise him on cutting spending across the federal government as a co-chair of his "Department of Government Efficiency" initiative.

A Florida jury delivered a $310 million verdict Thursday to the family of Tyre Sampson, the Missouri teen who plunged to his death while on a free-fall ride at an amusement park over two years ago. “This verdict is a step forward in holding corporations accountable for the safety of their products,” family attorney Ben Crump said in a statement. The damages, part of a wrongful death lawsuit the family filed one month after Tyre's death on March 24, 2022, were split evenly between Tyre's mother and father. Tyre's family reached a settlement last year with two other defendants named in the suit: ICON Park and Eagle Drop Slingshot, the ride’s owner. Ron DeSantis signed the Tyre Sampson Act into law, which strengthens safety standards for amusement park rides.

To be sure, having up-to-date digital skills is important for workers across industries and career levels, Petzold says. AdvertisementVaynerchuk, also known as Gary Vee, has built a legion of fans, many of whom are young men, by evangelizing hard work. His schtick lands with a generation that's grown up with — and is now exhausted by — social media, which encourages constant comparisons with others. Advertisement"In the beginning, it was, 'That's dumb, that's dumb,'" Jon Halvorson, SVP of Mondelez and a longtime client, said of Vaynerchuk's rhetoric. CMOs no longer have to be convinced to embrace social media, and many have even bypassed agencies like VaynerX altogether to take that work in-house. Naysayers say his personal brand is still bigger than his company; Vaynerchuk has 22 times as many followers on X as VaynerMedia.

is somehow a gay anthem,” Willis, who wrote the lyrics for the 1978 hit, said on Facebook on Monday. “As I’ve said numerous times in the past, that is a false assumption based on the fact that my writing partner was gay, and some (not all) of Village People were gay, and that the first Village People album was totally about gay life. It is not.”The song, from the band’s third studio album, “Cruisin,’” has spent years as an informal anthem of the LGBTQ community. Willis said that when writing the song he had no idea that the YMCA was “a hang out for gays.”He said: “I therefore wrote Y.M.C.A. is somehow a gay anthem because such notion is based solely on the song’s lyrics alluding to elicit activity for which it does not.

The price of bitcoin soared past the long-awaited $100,000 benchmark for the first time ever late Wednesday evening. The appointment could fulfill Trump’s most important campaign promise to the crypto industry: to replace Gary Gensler, who has become something of a villain in crypto for the agency’s regulation-by-enforcement approach to the industry under his leadership. In recent years, however, the industry has demonstrated the value of bitcoin to much of the institutional investing world. Bitcoin had been widely expected to reach the landmark $100,000 level since the U.S. presidential election. However, excited investors sent bitcoin closer to this mark much sooner than initially anticipated; it rose as high as $99,849.99 on Nov. 22.
