They said the swim school failed to protect them from an alleged predator by insisting that they change in an open area instead of providing them with a private changing area. “Goldfish failed in its basic duties and obligations to protect them from such harm,” states the lawsuit, which was filed in the Oakland County Circuit Court. “There’s nothing we can say about this right now,” a woman who identified herself as a manager at the Goldfish Swim School in Rochester said when contacted Wednesday by NBC News. Aejaz, who lives about 2 miles south of the swim school in Rochester Hills, Michigan, is being held on a $2 million bond. Aejaz allegedly placed the cameras in hospital changing rooms, closets, bathrooms and private rooms.

Apple has promised to bring artificial intelligence powered features to a host of its devices since June. And this week, Apple users finally got a chance to try out Apple Intelligence for themselves just ahead of the company's latest quarterly earnings report. On Oct. 28, Apple publicly released a new software update that brought Apple Intelligence, the company's branded generative artificial intelligence model, to supported iPhones, iPads and Mac devices. This first iteration includes generative AI tools that can help users with a variety of tasks, such as rewriting things like texts, emails and notes, searching for certain photos by describing what they're looking for and creating video montages, according to the Oct. 28 press release.

Apple CEO Tim Cook inspects the new iPhone 16 during an Apple special event at Apple headquarters on September 09, 2024 in Cupertino, California. "That should be expected, as Apple Intelligence features (the only reason to upgrade)have yet to be rolled out in a significant way." U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, have also seemed unexcited about an Apple Intelligence upgrade cycle. But research firm Counterpoint Research told CNBC in October that iPhone sales, especially for the lower-priced devices, were strong in China. Samsung Electronics on Thursday reported third-quarter sales and operating profit slightly above its own expectations, but its chip business posted a sharply lower profit from the previous quarter. The semiconductor unit reported third-quarter operating profit of 3.86 trillion won (about $2.8 billion), down 40% from the previous quarter. While its memory chip unit benefited by strong demand for its artificial intelligence and conventional server products, Samsung said "inventory adjustments negatively impacted mobile demand." While artificial intelligence drove demand for advanced nodes from its foundry unit, Samsung said mobile and PC demand underperformed. Here are Samsung's results compared with the guidance it issued earlier this month:Revenue : 79.1 trillion won vs. 79 trillion: 79.1 trillion won vs. 79 trillion Operating profit: 9.18 trillion vs. 9.1 trillion wonThose guidance figures were markedly lower than the LSEG estimate for 11.456 trillion won in operating profit.

While the hardware sales are certainly profitable, they pale in comparison to the profitability of Apple's Services. It's impossible to do consistently, and that's why Jim Cramer always says "own, don't trade" Apple stock. During the reported quarter, Apple returned over $29 billion to shareholders, including $3.8 billion in dividends and equivalents and another $25 billion via the repurchase of 112 million shares. Though Services sales missed the mark, gross income managed to outpace expectations thanks to significant year-over-year margin expansion. The growing installed base of active devices is of course translating into strong engagement with Apple's services.

New York CNN —Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company’s Apple Intelligence AI tools would “supercharge” the iPhone 16 when he introduced the new device last month. Now the world is about to get its first glimpse of whether the promise of Apple’s artificial intelligence technology is also supercharging deflated iPhone sales. That means people who bought the iPhone 16 in the first month it was on sale didn’t have access to those AI features until just recently. That figure will include sales of earlier iPhone models that happened during the quarter, too, but could indicate that the iPhone 16 helped raise sales slightly. In the year-ago quarter, when the iPhone 15 launched, iPhone sales grew about 2.8% year-over-year.

Andreessen Horowitz founders Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz said on their podcast that Chinese automakers have developed high-quality and affordable vehicles supported by a robust supply chain ecosystem. Andreessen said that Chinese car brands are outperforming American EV automakers in affordability and quality, calling them "super technologically sophisticated." AMD aims to close the gap with Nvidia, which holds 80% of the GPU market. AMD still has a large gap with Nvidia, as it lags behind in GPUs or graphics processing units. Su responded that AMD's road map "actually closed a good part of that gap" with Nvidia's products and that AMD holds an advantage in data center retrofitting. Advertisement"As much as we still believe NVDA will be hard to shake from its 80-85% AI share, AMD still has done an enviable job from virtually zero to ~5% market share," Arya wrote in a note released on Wednesday. Even if this share remains unchanged, the underlying AI growth will still provide AMD "the chance to participate," he added.

Mendez said her husband encouraged her to open the day care center, and she believed he was doing it to help her.
