Alameda, FTX and a host of subsidiaries Bankman-Fried founded have filed for bankruptcy protection in Delaware. On Nov. 2, CoinDesk reported a leaked balance sheet showing that a significant amount of Alameda's assets were held in FTX's illiquid FTT token. On Nov. 6, according to Bankman-Fried, the exchange had roughly $5 billion of withdrawals, "the largest by a huge margin."

“Senate Democrats have been committed to restoring balance to the federal judiciary with professionally and personally diverse judges,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer told NBC News on Saturday night. Senate Republican leaders told NBC News before the election that if they took the majority, they would use their power over the floor to compel Biden to send more centrist judges that GOP senators could support. He said Democrats keeping control means that if a Supreme Court vacancy were to open up, Biden’s nominee would be assured a vote. While the current 50-member Democratic caucus has been unified behind Biden’s judicial nominees, a 51st seat for the party could further embolden it. As a practical matter, that means Democrats currently need Republican sign-off to confirm judges in red states.

The Georgia Democratic Party accused Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's campaign of violating federal election law. It accused Greene's campaign of exceeding federal limits in supporting Herschel Walker's Senate campaign. The Federal Election Commission, a notoriously deadlocked group, unanimously dismissed the complaint. Hogan alleged that in addition to straight-up donating $2,000 to Walker's campaign, Greene's campaign published more than $3,000 of Facebook advertisements supporting Walker's candidacy. He said the posts were coordinated with Walker's campaign and should count as an in-kind donation, which would therefore place her campaign above the $2,000 contribution limit.

Cobb County, a one-time GOP stronghold, is now critical for Democrats running statewide in Georgia. Warnock's strong suburban support will be key as he again faces Walker in a Dec. 6 runoff election. With over 95% of county precincts reporting in the Senate race, Warnock was leading Walker by nearly 17 points (57%-40.5%) in Cobb County. The current raw vote total is 175,387 votes for Warnock to 125,324 votes for Walker, an advantage of over 50,000 votes in this jurisdiction for the incumbent. Which begs the question: why has Cobb County become such a bellwether for statewide Democrats?

Republican Brian Kemp won a second term as Georgia's governor. Stacey Abrams sought to oust Kemp from office in a rematch of their 2018 gubernatorial contest. Kemp touted his conservative record as governor, while Abrams wants a new approach in Atlanta. Georgia Republican Gov. Nov 1 (Reuters) - Democratic former President Barack Obama on Tuesday warned that "more people are going to get hurt" unless the U.S. political climate changes, after the husband of the Speaker of the House was attacked by a man wielding a hammer. "If that's the environment that we create, more people are going to get hurt." The Obama tour will continue on Wednesday in Arizona and Saturday in Pennsylvania, two more states with tight races for governor and senator. The Nevada race could determine which party controls the Senate, which is split 50-50 and in Democratic hands only because Vice Present Kamala Harris can break any ties. In the race for governor, Democratic incumbent Steve Sisolak is locked in a close race with Republican challenger Joe Lombardo, the Clark County sheriff.

Republican Brian Kemp is seeking re-election to a second term as Georgia's governor. Stacey Abrams is seeking to oust Kemp from office in a rematch of their 2018 gubernatorial contest. Brian Kemp, who narrowly defeated Democrat and former Georgia House of Representatives Minority Leader Stacey Abrams in the 2018 gubernatorial race, is running for reelection in a rematch of that race. However, Kemp has also frustrated the most prominent Republican official in the country — former President Donald Trump. The former president credits his endorsement of Kemp as a turning point in boosting the now-governor in both the 2018 Republican primary and in that year's general election.

"Enough is enough is enough," Biden told supporters in Philadelphia. "Democracy is literally, not figuratively, on the ballot this year," said Biden, who warned about the dangers of extremism in an impassioned speech in Philadelphia last month. The speech is part of big push by top Democrats to boost Pennsylvania Democrats in the closing stretch ahead of the Nov. 8 midterm election. "I absolutely do believe that John Fetterman will win this election," Harris told reporters ahead of a speech in Philadelphia. Trump, Biden's 2020 election opponent potential 2024 adversary, is expected to campaign in Pennsylvania next weekend as well.

"The gap in Japan's gross domestic product (GDP) is now around 15 trillion yen. It's not enough to just fill this gap," said Yoshitaka Shindo, executive acting chairperson of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party's (LDP) policy research council. The remarks add to growing calls among ruling party officials for hefty spending to ease the strain from rising inflation on households.
