A woman and man were “killed on the spot” when a projectile directly hit their vehicle, according to Israeli police. “Several projectiles were identified falling in the area,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) added in a statement following sirens in the Golan Heights. “We saw a vehicle that suffered a direct hit, and in its front were an unconscious man and woman who were critically injured. Military personnel assisted on the scene.”Firefighters said they were responding to at least eight fires following the projectile hits.

Sports remain the glue holding the traditional pay-TV bundle together, and has proven invaluable for streaming services, too.

Even so, four sources close to the Biden family said there is no active effort to shake up staffing right now. Hunter Biden's appearance in White House meetings this week was just one instance of what is expected to be the deeper Biden family involvement. From the view of some Biden aides, the family is seizing on an opportunity to try to settle old scores. President Joe Biden's family is attempting to become more involved over his campaign and White House affairs as their anger with his staff spills into public view. Hunter Biden's stepped-up involvement has confounded some White House staff members and revived a longtime sore spot.

To be sure, the president turned in a more energetic performance than he had on that woeful debate night, when he sometimes appeared lost and incoherent. “I just had a bad night, I don’t know why.”“And how quickly did it come to you that you were having a bad night?” Stephanopoulos asked. Only 42% said the same about Trump, 78, whose own terrible debate performance was eclipsed by Biden’s meltdown. Three separate polls conducted by CNN, The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal after the debate all showed Biden trailing Trump by six points nationwide. Previous polls have shown Biden trailing in nearly all the battleground states he narrowly won in 2020.

They join a growing choir of Democratic lawmakers, donors and strategists losing faith in Biden's ability to wage a successful campaign against Trump. Not only would a ticket with Kamala Harris as president and Michigan Gov. Finally, both Harris and Whitmer were once prosecutors, and their ticket would create a ready-made television spot: the law-and-order prosecutors versus the convicted felon. CNN —Buried deep in an Australian cave, archaeologists have uncovered evidence that an Aboriginal ritual may have been passed down 500 generations and survived 12,000 years, making it the oldest known continuous cultural practice in the world, according to a new study. They cut it, and used carbon dating to determine it’s 12,000 years old, from towards the end of the last Ice Age. Normally they just disintegrate.”They also uncovered another wooden stick which, though 1,000 years younger, was remarkably similar. The two wooden sticks were dated to 11,000 and 12,000 years old. “Bringing in the community way, the cultural way, with some of the scientific techniques, means that stories can be told,” David said.

President Biden will respond on Monday night to the Supreme Court’s ruling on immunity for former President Donald J. Trump, White House officials said, his first public remarks since hunkering down at Camp David amid calls from some Democrats to drop out of the 2024 election. The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that Mr. Trump has significant immunity against prosecution on charges of trying to overturn the 2020 election. A spokesman for the White House Counsel’s Office said earlier that “as President Biden has said, nobody is above the law.”Mr. Biden’s response to the ruling is likely to signal how his campaign will handle the issue of Mr. Trump’s criminal cases, which have been a central part of the president’s argument for re-election. During a rally on Friday, he cited the numerous court cases against Mr. Trump as proof that he is a “one-man crime wave.”But the president’s appearance in Cross Hall, the stately venue used for many previous addresses to the nation, will be closely watched for the president’s vigor and mental acuity in the wake of his disastrous debate performance in Atlanta on Thursday.

Things would be very different in 2024 if Biden decided to leave the race, although Democrats’ convention will return to Chicago in August. It also means that if Biden dropped out of the race, it would largely be Biden backers who would be responsible for picking his replacement.
