Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport is just 50 miles from Poland's border with Ukraine. He told Insider: "I realized that a great challenge was ahead of us and that any mistake on our part couldn't be an option." Hamryszczak told Insider that he had to rise to "countless" challenges, including making complex arrangements with world leaders and welcoming the world's media. Air Force One is "the most famous aircraft that has ever visited our airport," Hamryszczak said. "This is no longer the same regional airport that operated in 2021, or even before the pandemic," Hamryszczak told Insider.
Kevin Greenidge was 14 years old when he experienced cardiac arrest on an American Airlines flight. A lawsuit filed recently by the teenager's mother alleges the defibrillator on the plane wasn't working. The suit says the defibrillator was faulty — and places the blame on American Airlines. In a statement to Insider, an American Airlines spokesperson said the carrier was reviewing details of the lawsuit. American Airlines didn't comment to Insider on the number of times defibrillators have been used on its flights.
MONTREAL, March 17 (Reuters) - The United Nations aviation council on Friday voted to hear a case against Russia over the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, the foreign ministers of Australia and the Netherlands said. Australia and the Netherlands initiated the action over MH17 last year at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The ICAO upheld its jurisdiction to hear the matter during a session on Friday, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said in a written statement. Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra called the decision to hear the case "an important step towards establishing the truth, justice and accountability". In October, Russia failed to win enough votes at ICAO's triennial assembly to keep its council seat.

March 15 (Reuters) - Boeing Co (BA.N) said in a report on Wednesday that it expects commercial aircraft financing to reach near pre-pandemic levels in 2023, highlighting strong industry fundamentals. The carrier released its outlook amid increased signs of distress in the banking sector as shares of Credit Suisse (CSGN.S) slumped on funding concerns. Banks have already been under pressure following the recent collapse of the Silicon Valley Bank (SIVB.O) and Signature Bank (SBNY.O). The planemaker did not immediately respond when asked if its outlook takes into account the stress in the banking sector. Boeing, which annually reviews aircraft financing trends, said it sees increased interest from aircraft financiers and investors to aid commercial airplane deliveries.
President Joe Biden will keep with tradition and feature a blue and white Air Force One fleet. The news comes years after former President Donald Trump proposed that the colors change. Trump's changes would have resulted in additional heat on significant plane parts, the Air Force said. Air Force One, the plane of the president of the United States, is seen during takeoff, June 1968. Every Air Force One plane since has kept with tradition and featured a blue and white design.
Curtailed shipments from major grain exporter Ukraine played a role in the resulting global food crisis. According to shipping and insurance industry assessments, there are still between 40 and 60 ships stranded, and ship owners can claim a total loss for vessels stuck for a year from their insurers. A senior industry source said exposure for the ships currently stuck was estimated at $500 million. "The liabilities for those people who have ships stuck there, to get those ships out - it’s a real headache." "There is going to be some form of constructive agreement I suspect, but then that owner will have to buy war risk insurance all over again."
Rolls-Royce strategy bind is a problem best shared

That’s way better than the 1.5 billion pound cash outflow in 2021, but also four times what analysts had expected. Even so Rolls, which makes 45% of its revenue from making, selling and servicing commercial aircraft engines, is on the wrong side of the energy transition. But reaching net zero emissions by 2050 may involve ditching gas turbines entirely. One solution could come from hydrogen-powered fuel cell engines - Rolls clinched a partnership with easyJet (EZJ.L) in July to carry out a joint project to test a hydrogen engine. Rolls-Royce’s plans to reach net zero emissions by 2050 date back to 2021.

Newly privatized Air India is making up for lost time. A turnaround of India’s flag carrier Air India Ltd. could place the country on the global aviation map. The beleaguered airline just kick-started the process with a historic aircraft order. Last week, Air India ordered 470 jets from aircraft giants Boeing Co. and Airbus, marking the largest deal for commercial aircraft in aviation history. The airline also has an option of ordering an additional 370 planes in the future.
The Senate Commerce Committee hearing comes amid growing safety concerns about aviation safety after several close calls involving major U.S. airlines. The system failed when a contractor unintentionally deleted files during an update, the FAA has said. "After the incident, we implemented a synchronization delay to ensure that bad data from a database cannot affect a backup database," Nolen said in prepared remarks ahead of the hearing. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the committee's highest-ranking Republican, pressed Nolen on improvements to the NOTAM system: "Can a single screwup ground air traffic nationwide?" Nolen replied: "Could I sit here and tell you there will never be an issue on the NOTAM system?
Air India is seeking to reinvent itself as a rival the world’s biggest airlines. Air India Ltd. ordered 250 jets from Airbus SE in what is expected to form part of the largest deal for commercial aircraft in aviation history. The airline has agreed to purchase 210 Airbus narrow-body jets and 40 of the plane maker’s largest airliner, the A350 wide body, as it seeks to reinvent itself as a rival the world’s biggest airlines.
The U.S. says the suspected Chinese spy balloon shot down Feb. 4 violated sovereign U.S. airspace. But when it crossed the U.S. at altitudes as high as 65,000 feet, the balloon floated into the murky zone aloft where no international consensus exists about which, if any, nation wields control. U.S. allegations that China has operated a fleet of suspected spy balloons over 40 countries have renewed a debate over the governance of airspace above the altitudes traversed by commercial aircraft. And the balloon and other objects of unknown or undisclosed nature and purpose shot down from lower heights have focused attention on a nation’s right to eliminate perceived threats at any height.
Air India Ltd. ordered 470 jets from Boeing Co. and Airbus SE , marking the largest deal for commercial aircraft in aviation history and coming as airlines scramble for jets to meet surging demand for air travel. The airline said it has agreed to purchase 250 Airbus jets. It also ordered 220 Boeing planes, according to the White House, which announced the Boeing side of the deal.

REUTERS/Francis MascarenhasBENGALURU, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Air India has agreed to buy 250 jets from Airbus (AIR.PA), part of a mammoth deal for 470 planes, as the carrier heralds a decades-long transformation under its new owners, Tata Group. The deal is expected to also include an order for 220 planes from Airbus rival Boeing (BA.N), Reuters reported. "We see this moment as the most significant moment for the Tata Group's Air India, Indian aviation and the manufacturing sector in India," he said. Reuters in December reported that Air India was in negotiations for a deal close to 500 planes.
US fighter aircraft shot down an object threatening airspace over Alaska yesterday. On Saturday, another unknown object, described as "cylindrical," was shot down over Canada. Here is what we know about the object shot down on Friday. The object shot down on Saturday was spotted in the Northern Canadian territory of Yukon. It is unclear if the object shot down off the Alaskan coast was of similar size or shape.
Sweeney shares data that tracks private jets of celebrities, including Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Sweeney has used the ADS-B Exchange website to keep tabs on flights since he started tracking private-jet data back in 2020. ADS-B Exchange founder Dan Streufert previously said in a statement that the acquisition would accelerate the site's growth. It was built using the same open-source code that was used to create ADS-B Exchange. Still, the agency acknowledges that these are not a "silver bullet" and can be skirted via ADS-B Exchange.
The Pentagon said on Thursday that it was tracking the balloon flying high over the U.S. The Pentagon tracked what officials described as a Chinese reconnaissance balloon over the continental U.S. this week, days before a planned China visit by Secretary of State Antony Blinken to repair relations. Here’s what we know:Where was the reconnaissance balloon seen? The balloon was observed by someone on a commercial aircraft earlier this week flying over Montana, after having transited over the Aleutian Islands and Canada, according to a U.S. official. The Pentagon said the balloon traveled over several ‘sensitive’ areas.
Boeing is set to hire 10,000 workers this year amid its post-pandemic recovery, Reuters reported. The company had made meaningful progress in its post-pandemic recovery but challenges remain, president and CEO Dave Calhoun said Wednesday in a press release. Boeing grew its workforce by almost 15,000 workers last year and its headcount in the US is around 156,000 employees, the company told Insider. The Virginia-headquartered company cut its workforce by 10% – around 16,000 workers – during the pandemic as losses mounted. In a Thursday press release, Airbus announced plans on Thursday to hire 13,000 employees this year to help its "commercial aircraft ramp-up."
Jet-tracking student Jack Sweeney is calling for people to boycott ADS-B Exchange. Sweeney uses the site to share flight data on celebrities, including Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Aviation data company JetNet said on Wednesday that it bought ADS-B Exchange, a free website that tracked thousands of commercial aircraft around the world. Sweeney uses ADS-B to follow certain aircraft, like those owned by Musk, Donald Trump, and Taylor Swift. He said he's looking for alternatives to ADS-B Exchange, like creating his own version or using another tracking websites, like Open Sky Network and airframe.io.
Dean Baldwin Painting is a 57-year-old aircraft painting company based in Macon, Georgia. The Federal Aviation Administration sets the safety standards for aircraft paint, and throughout the entire painting process, the plane is continually inspected to ensure those standards are being met. Painting typically involves four to five layers but only tends to be as thick as a fraction of a millimeter. Those layers include an anti-corrosion primer, protective intermediate layers and a final outer layer, which is typically white. The global commercial aviation aircraft paint market was estimated at nearly $18.5 billion in 2020 and is expected to grow to a $65 billion market by 2027.
A resurgence in air travel, and the need for new aircraft to meet growing demand, should benefit Boeing into the new year, according to Goldman Sachs. "We see substantial cyclical and long-term secular upside at Boeing and much of its supply chain," Poponak wrote. Against this backdrop, large commercial aircraft demand should remain strong as new orders hover near record levels. Boeing should also benefit from normalization in free cash flows within the $20-a-share range by the middle of the decade, according to Poponak. Goldman Sachs' $242 price target suggests another 29% rally in store from Tuesday's close.
New York CNN —United Airlines placed a massive order for at least 200 Boeing planes on Tuesday, split between two models dogged by recent problems: the 737 Max and the 787 Dreamliner. United generally picks Boeing over AirbusThe order, while an important lift for Boeing, isn’t a total surprise. While United has some orders with Airbus (EADSF), nearly 80% of its existing fleet is composed of Boeing jets. The 100 737 Max jets United is buying includes 44 planes for which it already had an option to purchase, and 56 new orders. In June 2021, it announced the purchase of 200 of the 737 Max jets, along with 70 competing planes from Airbus, in the largest aircraft order that United has ever placed.

REUTERS/Jason LeeBEIJING/SYDNEY, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The world's first C919, a Chinese-made narrowbody jet, was delivered to launch customer China Eastern Airlines (600115.SS) in Shanghai on Friday and took off for a 15-minute flight to mark the historic moment. The plane delivered to China Eastern has 164 seats and was painted with "the world's first C919" on its side in Chinese and English. China Eastern said on Friday it plans to receive the remaining four of its first batch of C919 orders over the next two years, according to Shanghai's The Paper. China is trying to raise the proportion of domestic parts in the C919 and an alternative engine called the CJ-1000A is under development.
