Jean Carroll arrives for her hearing at federal court during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic in the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York, U.S., October 21, 2020. There, he called Carroll's rape claim a "Hoax and a lie" for promoting her memoir, and maintained that she was "not my type!" Carroll first sued Trump for defamation in November 2019, five months after he first denied her rape claim. She has long accused Trump of stalling, and U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan has rejected multiple efforts by Trump to delay Carroll's case. Last year, Trump refused to let his Trump Organization concede wrongdoing in a New York criminal tax fraud case, which ended in a conviction that is being appealed.

Jean Carroll by denying he raped her. Kaplan said there was no reason to assume it would be easier to seat a fair and impartial jury in May. Carroll's lawsuit stems from her alleged encounter with Trump in late 1995 or early 1996 in a Bergdorf Goodman department store in Manhattan. U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in Manhattan on Friday rejected Trump's renewed effort to require that prospective jurors provide their names, employment and 38 other pieces of information on written questionnaires. While jurors would hear much about Trump even in "normal" circumstances, "the risk of prejudice is even more elevated" because of Bragg's case, Trump's lawyers said. [1/2] Donald Trump (R) speaks to media mogul Rupert Murdoch as they walk out of Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland, June 25, 2016. REUTERS/Carlo AllegriApril 11 (Reuters) - A Fox Corp (FOXA.O) shareholder sued Chairman Rupert Murdoch and four other board members on Tuesday, saying they failed to stop Fox News from reporting falsehoods about the 2020 U.S. presidential election that damaged its credibility and prompted lawsuits. The lawsuit seeks damages for the company from Rupert Murdoch, his son and Fox Chief Executive Lachlan Murdoch, and fellow directors Chase Carey, Roland Hernandez and Jacques Nasser. Fox has argued that election-rigging claims by Trump and his lawyers were inherently newsworthy and protected by legal doctrines concerning press freedom. The shareholder lawsuit cited filings in the Dominion lawsuit, which said Murdoch had acknowledged under questioning from Dominion lawyers that some Fox hosts had "endorsed" the idea that the election was stolen.

A financial accident has happened, and we are going from no landing to a hard landing driven by tighter credit conditions,” he wrote in a Wednesday note. Some investors believe regulators' quick backstop of Silicon Valley Bank, which included guaranteeing the funds of depositors, will prevent a crisis and allow for a soft landing. “The odds of a soft landing have gone down and the likelihood of a hard landing has gone up,” he said.

Pfizer said it was developing a new packaging for the drug acquired through its $11.6 billion buyout of Biohaven Pharmaceutical Holding in 2022. As an interim measure, the company has instructed pharmacists to place the drug packet in a child-resistant vial before dispensing it to patients. The orally disintegrating tablets are used for the treatment of acute migraine and as preventive treatment for episodic migraine in adults.
[1/5] Guo Wengui (also known as Miles Kwok) holds a news conference with Steve Bannon in New York, New York, U.S., November 20, 2018. Guo, 52, was charged with 11 criminal counts including securities fraud, wire fraud and concealment of money laundering, after "lining his pockets with the money he stole," U.S. Attorney Damian Williams in Manhattan said in a statement. They will propose a "robust bail package," according to Tamara Giwa, a federal public defender who represented Guo at Wednesday's hearing. Bannon is not accused of wrongdoing in Guo's criminal case. It said it also seized assets purchased with proceeds from Guo's alleged fraud, including a Lamborghini Aventador, and wants Guo to forfeit the yacht.

The drugmaker expects more than $10 billion in sales from Seagen products in 2030, and another $15 billion from its other recent acquisitions. Pfizer said antitrust regulators could closely review the deal due to its size but eventually approve it. Pfizer rival Merck & Co Inc (MRK.N) and Seagen were in advanced deal talks last year but those reportedly collapsed over antitrust concerns.
Carroll sought to introduce an excerpt from the tape, which was recorded in 2005 and where Trump boasted about forcing himself on women, as evidence that Trump had a propensity for sexual assaults comparable to hers. In the "Access Hollywood" excerpt, Trump graphically described his unsuccessful attempt to have a sexual encounter with a married woman, and described himself as being attracted to beautiful women. The tape was released in October 2016 and threatened to upend Trump's White House run. Kaplan also rejected Trump's bid to exclude testimony from two other women who claimed he sexually assaulted them, and evidence that Carroll suffered emotional harm. The cases are Carroll v. Trump, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, Nos.

The ban also included a $64.6 million civil fine, which Shkreli said he is "so far unable" to pay. He said he intended to comply fully with the ban and provide requested information. The FTC had accused Shkreli last month of failing to provide information about Druglike Inc, a company it said he formed last July. He also said Druglike and DL Software were "software companies creating professional software for chemists and physicists," and thus outside his pharmaceutical industry ban. U.S. District Judge Denise Cote, who imposed the ban and $64.6 million penalty, will decide the FTC contempt motion.
You'll often hear Jim Cramer say that we don't want to violate our cost basis when adding to one of our Club positions. When Jim says that our discipline forbids us from "violating our cost basis," he means we want every new buy in a stock we own to be below the weighted average cost basis. As a result, each new buy should serve to reduce the overall weighted average cost basis of the position. Most brokerage tools calculate this for you, usually in the "cost" column or "cost basis" column in the dashboard. We don't get hung up on how that might affect cost basis because the reason for selling takes precedence.

REUTERS/Carlo Allegri/File PhotoSummarySummary Companies Deal raises concerns- regulatorAcquisition threatens Xbox and PlayStation rivalryMicrosoft says committed to addressing concernsLONDON, Feb 8 (Reuters) - Britain's antitrust regulator said Microsoft's (MSFT.O) $69-billion purchase of "Call of Duty" maker Activision Blizzard (ATVI.O) could harm gamers by weakening the rivalry between Xbox and Sony's PlayStation. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said the deal could result in higher prices, fewer choices and less innovation for millions of gamers, as well as stifling competition in the growing cloud gaming market. In December, the United States moved to block the deal, citing Microsoft's record of hoarding valuable gaming content. Microsoft, which has pledged to keep "Call of Duty" on PlayStation, said it would address the CMA's concerns.
What matters in a real bull market, though, is the company and the sector it's in, not the S & P 500 . So, the first lesson is to understand that in a bull market the buyer gets the benefit of the doubt, not the seller. Secondly, in a bull market you have to fight the temptation to trade down. So, again, know that in a bull market the sellers better have a lot of conviction or else they will lose the opportunity to make money. It's our job to keep you from doing so by helping you to navigate this bull market that started in October 2022 — a bull market that almost no one seems to recognize except us.

REUTERS/Carlo Allegri/File PhotoBRUSSELS, Dec 20 (Reuters) - EU antitrust regulators have asked game developers and distributors if they think Microsoft (MSFT.O) will block their access to Activision Blizzard's (ATVI.O) games once it has bought the company, an EU document seen by Reuters shows. "Please specify which partial exclusivity strategy or strategies you believe Microsoft would have the ability to deploy with respect to Activision Blizzard's console games after Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard," the questionnaire asked. The EU antitrust watchdog asked if such strategies would include degrading the quality or interoperability of Activision's games available on competing consoles or providing upgrades to Activision's games only on Xbox. Regulators asked what advantages and disadvantages game developers and publishers and console game distributors would face if a game is distributed exclusively on one console.

Carlo Allegri | ReutersIt may not have increased by much, and it's rising from an all-time low, but for the first time during his presidency, Joe Biden's approval rating on Main Street has gone up. The CNBC|SurveyMonkey Small Business Survey for Q4 2022 was conducted Nov. 9-Nov. 16 among nearly 2,600 small business owners. Biden's approval rating still remains heavily partisan: Just 8% of small business owners who are Republican approve of President Biden. "This is the first quarter of Biden's presidency where we've seen any improvement whatsoever in Biden's approval among small business owners, so it's important because it breaks the trend," said Laura Wronski, senior manager of research science at Momentive. Small business owners are more confident this quarter than last, with the overall survey reading moving up modestly and fears of recession declining quarter over quarter.
