Celebrated New York City rapper and former firefighter Ka, whose real name was Kaseem Ryan, has died, according to his social media accounts. A cause of death was not available, and a spokesperson for the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner did not immediately respond to a request for information. Ryan served the FDNY and the people of the city of New York with distinction for 20 years, working assignments in both the Bronx and Brooklyn," New York City Fire Department spokesperson Jim Long said by email. CNN —Sean “Diddy” Combs has spent his three weeks in jail speaking with his defense attorneys, preparing for his case and receiving visiting from his family, a source close to the music producer told CNN. In a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs’ attorneys said on Wednesday that they intend to request a trial date in April or May 2025. Following the release of the video, Combs apologized. The motion filed by Combs’ attorneys also alleges that authorities alerted the media about the searches in March of his homes in Los Angeles and Miami. Combs’ attorneys said they want the judge to order the government to immediately produce the materials seized over six months ago.

Sean "Diddy" Combs wants to go to trial on sex trafficking charges next spring, the embattled hip-hop mogul's lawyers informed a judge Wednesday. "Mr. Combs continues to assert his right to a speedy trial and intends to request a trial date in April or May 2025, and as consistent with the Court’s trial schedule," the jailed rapper's lawyers wrote. Combs was charged last month with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution in a sweeping indictment by the Southern District of New York. Combs' preference was mentioned in a joint letter from his lawyers and prosecutors. In the joint letter, U.S. government prosecutors said they have started submitting to defense lawyers some of the "voluminous" evidence in the case, including "several terabytes of electronic material" regarding Combs.
