“After careful consideration, we are revising our sponsorship model,” read an official statement shared on the SXSW website. In 2023, The Ireland-Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) announced that their “Irish Artists Pledge to Boycott Israel” had passed 1,500 signatories, including Kneecap. SXSW isn’t the only music festival that has seen artists pull out over sponsorships since the Israel-Hamas war began. Obviously, we pulled out of SXSW because it was literally sponsored by the American army, but we’re not f–kin’ ridiculous either.”The SXSW festival began in 1987. A data center. The industry is about to be hit with a "wave of data tsunami," said Merima Dzanic, head of strategy and operations at the Danish Data Center Industry Association. A "whole different approach to how we build, design and operate data centers," is required, Dzanic added. Eco launchASCEND's goal was to explore the potential and comparative environmental impact of space-based data centers to aid Europe in becoming carbon-neutral by 2050. According to South Korean news agency Yonhap, an estimated 2,000 garbage balloons have been sent over so far. The responding deluge of balloons from North Korea, some carrying manure and used toilet paper, seems to have emboldened the activists. AdvertisementWith the activists appearing to ignore that condition, North Korea's balloon launches resumed. Seoul's military chiefs told South Korean news agency Yonhap that the contents of the latest balloon-lifted bags weren't toxic. North Korea, for its part, has threatened in the past to destroy the speakers with military strikes.

CNN —Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ Infowars media empire will be shut down and sold off, a bankruptcy court-appointed trustee said in an emergency court filing Sunday, signalling the end of the notorious far-right outlet that Jones has used to spread dangerous misinformation and lies. But at that time, the judge ruled Jones’ media company Free Speech Systems, the parent of Infowars, would not be liquidated partly because the process would be costly and lengthy. The dismissal of the bankruptcy case against the outlet meant that the families were free to go after Jones’ assets, including Infowars, in state court. Since Jones is the owner of Free Speech Systems, a court appointed trustee was put in charge of the company. As a result, Jones’ trustee asked the bankruptcy judge for an emergency stay in the case to allow them to conduct an “orderly wind-down and sale process” of Infowars.

Some of the Sandy Hook families had requested the judge move to liquidate Jones’ Free Speech Systems company. What happens to InfowarsFor now, nothing changes for Jones’ Infowars shows. Because of Jones’ bankruptcy, Free Speech Systems is now in the hands of a court-appointed trustee. “I do not now own Infowars,” Jones said during an “emergency” show on Saturday. A Houston bankruptcy judge on Friday ordered the personal assets of the Infowars conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to be liquidated and sold, with the proceeds distributed among the Sandy Hook families. The ruling will allow Mr. Jones to continue broadcasting on Infowars, while the families continue to pursue payment of the enormous defamation damages awarded them. The outcome sharply divided the Sandy Hook families. The families who sued Mr. Jones in Connecticut favored settling for less money and shutting Mr. Jones down, although they acknowledged it would perhaps not silence him entirely. Mr. Jones is appealing the judgments against him, a fight that is expected to take years.

New York CNN —Alex Jones’ conspiracy empire is on the brink. If the judge rules in favor of Sandy Hook families, Infowars would be shuttered. In such a scenario, a court-appointed trustee would be tasked with securing the assets and then selling off Jones’ media empire, including the website, studio space, and broadcasting equipment. “Infowars would no longer exist,” Christopher Mattei, an attorney who represents some of the Sandy Hook families, explained this week to CNN’s Hadas Gold. But the attorneys representing Sandy Hook families expect that the most likely scenario is Jones’ Infowars empire will be sold off, piece by piece, with the proceeds going to their clients.

What important lesson can we learn from history to help us in this moment? Seeing that in our past should help us expect that and hopefully brace ourselves against it in our own time. WBD already has an existing relationship with Roland-Garros since it began broadcasting the tennis tournament across Europe on Eurosport since 1989.
