“I knew Mom was having a hard time,” Ms. Parrish recalled. Soon the three of them were in search of a way to keep Ms. Dalrymple close — but not too close. Their solution was to build Ms. Dalrymple a small home literally in the Parrishes’ backyard. Ms. Dalrymple sold the California house to fund the construction, and in 2014 she downsized into a custom-designed, 740-square-foot house that suits her needs perfectly. A.D.U.s, whether stand-alone or connected to the main house, are being embraced by a growing number of cities and states in response to their lack of affordable housing.

CNN —Ötzi the Iceman, whose frozen remains were found in a gully high in the Tyrolean Alps by hikers in 1991, is perhaps the world’s most closely studied corpse. CNN —A Bronze Age arrowhead unearthed in Switzerland was made from a meteor, a new study has found. The nearly 3,000-year-old artifact was created with iron from a meteorite that landed in Estonia, the study noted. This indicates that meteoritic iron was traded in Europe by 800 BC or earlier, the researchers said, adding how unusual it is to find meteoritic iron used so early in history. “Such evidence of an early use of meteoritic iron is extremely rare,” according to a news release on the discovery. Meteorite originsExperts previously thought the iron used in the arrowhead came from the Twannberg meteorite, which fell to Earth just a few kilometers from the pile-dwelling.

Morning Bid: Winging it

Ahead of the match, one statistic that blew this Englishman's mind was the sheer volume of chicken wings that were set to be consumed over Super Bowl weekend. In a report released earlier this month, the National Chicken Council said Americans were expected to chow down on 1.45 billion chicken wings, an increase of 2% from last year, or the equivalent of 84 million wings. Well, if you're looking for deflation, chicken wings are the place to find it. The report is expected to show consumer prices rose at an annual pace of 6.2% in January, down from 6.5% in December and well below June's four-decade peak of 9.1%. This is their third trip to the NFL title game in four years and Kansas City fans can be heard throughout Phoenix singing the "tomahawk chop" chant. It is a jarring contrast to the displays of Native American culture and pride that Super Bowl hosts have invited to participate in the days leading up to the game. Chiefs fans are all but assured to perform the "tomahawk chop" cheer loudly in the minutes before kickoff, as they did prior to the game in their previous two Super Bowl appearances. And it's tone deaf," said Rhonda LeValdo, an Acoma Pueblo journalist who founded the Not in our Honor coalition in 2005, to advocate against the use of Native American imagery in sports. "I don't even understand what you guys are saying and you have the Chiefs logo and you guys are doing the chop."

The bull case is further supported by continued signs inflation is easing, a still-robust job market and the breadth of market-buying activity since the start of the year.
