Los Angeles County agreed to pay nearly $29 million to settle a lawsuit filed by Kobe Bryant ’s family over pictures sheriff’s deputies had taken at the scene of a fatal helicopter crash, according to lawyers and court records.
Vanessa Bryant sued county officials months after Mr. Bryant, the basketball star, and their 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, died on their way to a basketball tournament in January 2020.
Some first responders had taken pictures of their bodies at the crash site in the hills near Calabasas, Calif., which she alleged were shared.
The crash, which killed all eight passengers and the pilot, stunned basketball fans around the world.
