A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of killing his father at a popular waterfall in Southern California, authorities said. Deputies responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a Saturday statement from the sheriff’s department. In a Sunday statement, the sheriff’s department said the man involved in the vehicle collision was the 19-year-old son of the victim. The case will be passed on to prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for potential charges, according to the sheriff's department. Five people are dead after a small plane crashed on Catalina Island off the California coast on Tuesday, officials said. The Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday the twin-engine Beechcraft 95 crashed shortly after it departed from Catalina Airport in Avalon at around 8 p.m. A joint search and rescue team comprised of Avalon station deputies, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Avalon Search and Rescue and Avalon City Fire Department members found the plane about a mile west of Catalina Airport, according to the Sheriff's Department's news release.
