PropTrack data showing house rents nationally were unchanged at A$550 per week, or about A$2,380 ($1,508) per month, in the September quarter. Apartment rents nationally jumped 4% during the quarter, double the June quarter rate of increase, to an average of A$520 per week, making them almost as costly. Prices across Australia's entire rental stock rose 7.6% in the third quarter from a year ago, the largest increase since 2009, according to official data, and similar to gains seen in the U.S. where rental costs have also surged. There are two pivotal events that seem to have ignited the new era of solidarity between some young American activists and the people of Palestine. The first came in the form of Palestinian activists expressing support on social media for the 2014 protests in Ferguson, Mo., which activists describe as an uprising, not just a series of protests. Around that time, a small delegation of Palestinians even traveled to Ferguson and St. Louis to meet with American activists. It called back to a time when an American figure as notable as Malcolm X spoke out for the Palestinian cause. Even activists who didn’t make these journeys describe coming to this cause in part through personal connections with Palestinians and Palestinian Americans.

The bank is issuing A$550 million worth of subordinated fixed to floating rate securities and A$700 million worth of subordinated floating rate securities, both due in a decade. "The subordinated securities potentially exchange into fully paid ordinary shares of CBA if a non-viability trigger event occurs," the bank said.

Whitaker, a former Obama administration official, to lead the Federal Aviation Administration, filling a key vacancy that had persisted for more than 18 months. His swift bipartisan confirmation underscored the desire of lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to install a permanent administrator atop the nation’s aviation regulator. Mr. Whitaker now faces the challenge of stabilizing an agency that has been in turmoil and providing the flying public with the confidence that the country’s air travel system is safe and reliable. A system outage grounded flights nationwide in January, and a series of near collisions at airports around the country have raised fears about whether the air travel system is being stressed to the point of danger. has been without a permanent leader since Stephen Dickson, a former Delta Air Lines executive and an appointee of President Donald J. Since receiving half a million dollars from an angel investor in 2016, Feeld says that it has remained profitable without any additional external support. Recently, Feeld has also made the leap to IRL, hosting 31 in-person socials worldwide this year, with about 200 attendees at each. Feeld would not share how many active users it has or how many times the app has been downloaded. From 2021 to 2022, average weekly active users on Feeld grew by 90 percent, and the app is on track for 65 percent growth in weekly active users this year, according to the company. When the college football season kicks off in earnest this Labor Day weekend, it will be a test to keep an eye on the ball. The focus for a few days may be on blocking, tackling and quick-trigger assessments of who’s up and who’s down, but then what in a sport that is on the cusp of unprecedented upheaval? Consider what college football will look like in a year. Texas and Oklahoma, anchors of the Big 12 Conference, will be in the Southeastern Conference. And after this season, the College Football Playoff will balloon from four teams to 12.

The police in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, released body-camera footage on Friday of an officer fatally shooting a pregnant Black woman through the windshield of her car in the parking lot of a supermarket last week. The shooting of the woman, Ta’Kiya Young, 21, led to protests and an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation into the use of deadly force by the police in Blendon Township, a town of approximately 10,000 northeast of Columbus. The Columbus branch of the N.A.A.C.P. has called for the officer, who, video shows, opened fire as Mr. Young drove forward, to be fired. Ms. Young’s family said in a statement on Friday that the body-camera footage shows that her death was “not only avoidable, but also a gross misuse of power and authority.”
