CNN —FIFA, football’s governing body, have announced a plan to address a Palestinian request to ban Israel from world football during a meeting held at their headquarters in Zurich on Thursday. The PFA called for FIFA to ban the IFA, its national teams and club teams earlier this year. Seoul CNN —A North Korean defector who escaped to the South more than a decade ago was detained after attempting to cross back into North Korea on a stolen bus, police said. Since moving to South Korea in 2011, the 35-year-old man had been working day-to-day jobs without a stable home. More than 34,000 North Korean defectors have arrived in South Korea since fighting ended in the Korean War in 1953, according to official data. Defectors and advocates say the fact that some North Korean defectors try to return home points to how difficult it can be for them to assimilate into South Korean society. The man had previously crossed the border into North Korea via China but was returned by North Korean authorities.

The famed golf club in Augusta, Georgia, and the Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) promised a joint $5 million contribution to the Hurricane Helene Community Crisis Fund on Thursday. “Our employees, neighbors, friends and business owners need, and deserve, immediate and meaningful assistance to overcome the hardships being experienced at this moment throughout Augusta,” chairman of Augusta National Golf Club Fred Ridley stated Thursday. “Augusta National and the Community Foundation each take to heart our obligation to care for our community. The Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE) was the worst performing sector ETF in September. The XLE ETF (and many of its holdings) has been trying to etch out a bottom for a number of weeks, and the charts we're reviewing today suggest that momentum finally could be turning positive. XLE has been making lower lows and lower highs since peaking in March. Both prior times, eventually logging a higher low gave XLE the firepower it needed to finally punch through a key downtrend line. Recently, the higher lows have been marginal, but considering that we haven't seen a material lower low in nearly five years, it's noteworthy.
