The Department of Justice should investigate four of the nation’s biggest operators of youth residential treatment facilities for civil rights violations and fraud, Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., argued Wednesday in letters to Attorney General Merrick Garland. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., led a two-year probe into residential treatment facilities for at-risk youth. Wyden said these were clear violations of federal Medicaid rules prohibiting residential treatment facilities from restraining children to discipline them, and from simultaneously restraining and secluding children. Acadia and UHS have both paid multimillion-dollar settlements in recent years to resolve DOJ probes into their hospitals and psychiatric centers. However, those cases did not focus on youth facilities run by the companies, which Wyden is asking the DOJ to investigate.

Viewers tuning into NFL and college football games in recent weeks have been bombarded with two Trump ads — running nationally and locally in swing states — that take issue with Vice President Kamala Harris’ past support for taxpayer-funded gender-affirming treatments. “So we’ll talk about it for them.”The Harris campaign declined to comment on the record. The two trans ads are Trump’s two most-seen commercials during professional and college football games, according to AdImpact, a firm that tracks political commercials and ad spending. Trump campaign officials say the ads will make it harder for Harris to make up ground with men, where polls show her trailing Trump. A Trump campaign official said the campaign's internal polling showed the ad was resonating with Black men — a demographic the campaign is courting.

Video showed flames coming from underneath a Frontier flight that made a hard landing in Las Vegas after reports of smoke in the cockpit Saturday, officials said. Flight 1326 was on its way from San Diego to Las Vegas when "the pilots detected smoke and declared an emergency," Frontier said in a statement. There were reports of smoke in the cockpit before the Airbus 321 was able to make an emergency landing at Harry Reid International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
