New York CNN —The American dream of homeownership is looking more like a nightmare. With inflation heating up again, the Federal Reserve is in no position to consider lowering interest rates at its upcoming meetings. That’s according to a New York Fed survey gauging consumers’ expectations of the housing market, released Monday. New York CNN —A janitorial company has been fined $649,000 after an investigation found it hired minors for dangerous jobs cleaning slaughterhouses, the United States Department of Labor said Monday. Fayette Janitorial Service had employed at least 24 children, including those as young as 13, according to the DOL investigation. The minors had been working overnight shifts at two separate slaughter facilities, according to the DOL. The company said in February that it had ended all of its contracts with Fayette, according to the Sioux City Journal. Instances of illegal child labor have been growing in recent years, and other contractors have been fined over employing minors.

CNN —Star quarterback Aaron Rodgers is expected to participate in the New York Jets’ offseason training activities (OTAs) later this month without “any restrictions,” his franchise’s coach Robert Saleh said on Friday, per the NFL website. But the Jets ultimately missed the postseason and the timeline for his rehabilitation shifted and now Rodgers seems to be on track for beginning the 2024 NFL season fully fit, with a full offseason of training under his belt. The 40-year-old will fully participate in phase three of the OTAs, Saleh said, in which teams can conduct 10 days of 11-on-11 drills without any contact during a four week period. “I know he’s had a couple prior engagements that he’s taking care of, but he’s here, he’s working,” Saleh said. CNN —Super Bowl LVIII is finally upon us and only two teams remain in the fight for the NFL’s biggest prize. Three of the stars playing in this weekend’s Super Bowl — San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, quarterback Brock Purdy and Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes — have dominated jersey sales throughout the NFL season. Mahomes’ jersey sales had a strong start this season, following his 2022 NFL and Super Bowl MVP awards. But while punching a ticket to the Super Bowl helps sell jerseys, it’s not the only thing that drove jersey sales. But over the course of the entire season, Travis Kelce’s brother Jason and his Philadelphia Eagles teammate Jalen Hurts’ jerseys consistently ranked higher in jersey sales. Following that first appearance, he ranked in the top 10 jersey sales another six times in the latter half of the season.

BOSTON (AP) — Bill O’Brien will be the new head coach at Boston College, opting to return to his hometown for a top job instead of taking the offensive coordinator position at Ohio State he accepted just last month, a person with direct knowledge of the move told The Associated Press on Friday. The Boston native, who was the New England Patriots offensive coordinator last season, replaces Jeff Hafley, who left Chestnut Hill to be defensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers. Since then, he has worked for Alabama and the Patriots as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. The Patriots went 4-13 last season and fired Bill Belichick, replacing him with Jerod Mayo. When the Eagles opened this season 1-3, Hafley’s job was in jeopardy; five straight wins earned them another bowl berth.
