Democrats called for a full party reckoning on Wednesday, as they attempted to pick up the pieces of their shattered organization a day after Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss to former President Donald Trump. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., put out a statement blasting "big money interests and well-paid consultants who control the Democratic Party." "It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them," he said Wednesday. Brendan Smialowski / AFP via Getty Images“People needed to pick who was going to go after him,” the Harris ally said of prosecutors and Democrats. One Harris aide called for more diversity among decision-makers, pointing to a far too-white leadership makeup of Harris’ campaign and Biden’s former campaign.

Equatorial Guinea on Tuesday ordered a crackdown on sex in government offices after private videos leaked on social media appeared to show a senior finance ministry official having sex with several women in various places, including his office. Equatorial Guinea has been ruled by the same president for decades and the scandal has been shaking the government since the videos first emerged last week. The women featured in the videos appeared to include wives of other powerful government figures and other family members, local media said. Transactional, personality-based and erratic, the Trump doctrine made for a chaotic four years that left both foreign leaders and seasoned American national security aides exhausted and jittery. World leaders are open to all options, including making trips to New York or Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, sources said. Foreign leaders are relying on their experience with Trump during his first presidency, when flattery and personal attention paid dividends, as they approach him following his win. And that, in the end, could sum up Trump’s foreign policy doctrine in a sentence. The first clues about Trump’s policy will be the appointments he makes to senior national security positions.”CNN’s Alayna Treene contributed reporting.

The Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates by 25 basis points on Thursday. It follows a 50-basis-point rate cut in September — the first cut in four years. CME FedWatch, which forecasts interest rate changes based on market predictions, estimated an all-but-certain 25 basis point cut as of Wednesday afternoon. "Borrowers should understand that 'falling interest rates' are not the same as 'low interest rates,'" Greg McBride, Bankrate's chief financial analyst, said in a commentary. When officials meet to decide where interest rates should be, they don’t consult the president and other elected officials — and for good reason. That’s because, as one former Federal Reserve chair famously said, central bankers’ job is to remove the punchbowl right when the party is just getting started. I feel that strongly,” Trump said at a press conference in August, referring to the Fed’s interest rate decisions. Lowering interest rates too soon could’ve risked reigniting inflation, which is currently just a tenth of a percentage point higher than the Fed’s 2% target. That’s why countries with independent central banks generally have lower inflation, Fed Chair Jerome Powell told reporters in September after central bankers lowered rates by a half point.

The West WingOne of Trump’s most important picks will be his White House chief of staff. Karoline Leavitt, who was Trump’s campaign spokeswoman, is being considered as White House press secretary – a job that typically is the most public-facing position in the White House. National security postsTrump has suggested his national security team would be tasked with reassessing the United States’ posture toward Ukraine and Russia, China, Iran, and the simmering conflict in the Middle East. The debate over a renewed Trump’s “America First” agenda is expected to pit Republican national security hawks against the party’s isolationist wing. Secretary of state and national security adviser will be among the most hard-fought positions to stand at the forefront of those shifts.

The head of Myanmar’s military government will pay an official visit this week to China, the embattled Southeast Asian nation’s most important international ally, for several regional meetings, state-run media reported on Monday, amid concern by the opposition. The visit comes as Myanmar’s army has suffered unprecedented battlefield defeats over the past year, especially in areas near the Chinese border. Myanmar’s pro-democracy opposition has expressed concern about China welcoming a visit by Min Aung Hlaing. It is Min Aung Hlaing and his group who are destroying these things,” Kyaw Zaw said. Meta extended its ban on new political ads on Facebook and Instagram past Election Day in the U.S. The social media giant announced the political ads policy update on Monday, extending its ban on new political ads past Tuesday, the original end date for the restriction period. The company announced in August that any political ads that ran at least once before Oct. 29 would still be allowed to run on Meta's services in the final week before Election Day. Other political ads will not be allowed to run. Those advertisers will be allowed to make scheduling, budgeting and bidding-related changes to their political ads, Meta said.

A sign for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) sign is displayed inside central bank's headquarters in Mumbai, India. The Reserve Bank of India would be able to tap its large foreign exchange reserves to defend the domestic currency in the event of global market volatility and an outflow of foreign funds, the sources said. There has been a record outflow of more than $10 billion in foreign funds from India stocks, while foreigners pulled $700 million from the debt market. Central bank officials have not committed to or signaled any timing for a rate cut. China's stimulus efforts, which could intensify if U.S. tariffs further hurt its economy, have been a factor driving foreign funds out of India and other emerging markets into China.

Here's how Bank of America suggests trading a variety of Election Day outcomes. Split Republican control A Trump White House with a largely Democratic Congress is overall neutral for equities, Kwon said. Split Democratic control The status quo would be maintained with a Harris White House and a Republican Congress, Kwon said. Over the past seven election cycles, the two-week price direction for stocks was identical to one day after election day every single time. Outside of the election, Kwon said that the Fed could have ample reason to cut further.

How to talk like a banker

A manager might leave a comment on a page telling the junior banker to "kill this," which just means delete it. A manager might also instruct the junior banker to "take another stab" at it, which means doing the presentation over again and sending it back by email. In stock market talk, "trading with the Street" usually means someone is trading along the lines of majority opinion. It's so much a part of the culture that the term is also used by higher-ups to describe their junior bankers professionally. Each time a banker makes changes to client materials pre-meeting — like a deck — it's standard practice for every round of edits or changes to be saved as a new file.
