Similar to Maureen, she's concerned about financial security for older Americans — but she will be supporting Vice President Kamala Harris. "He says that he's going to keep Social Security, but you never know with him," Klein told BI of Trump. CRP research suggests that's due to fewer older adults working traditional jobs and instead pursuing entrepreneurship to supplement their retirement incomes. AdvertisementJR Reed and Krista Geer, both in charge of county-wide aging agencies, have met with older adults in Pennsylvania to hear their top worries. Critics say it isn't tied to a measure that accurately reflects the spending of older Americans.

A broad Chinese hacking campaign against U.S. telecommunication networks targeted the phones of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, two sources familiar with the matter say. Another source told NBC News that people affiliated with the campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris were also targeted. None of the three sources clarified whether campaign devices were successfully compromised or whether China stole their communications. It is unclear who in the Harris campaign was targeted or if others in the Trump campaign were targeted in addition to Trump and Vance. It's not clear that the hack was an attempt to influence the presidential election.

“Kamala is weak, dishonest, and dangerously liberal, and that’s why the American people will reject her on November 5th.”The Harris campaign declined to comment for this article. “Well, I’m clearly a woman,” Harris told NBC News in her interview Tuesday. As Wall Street financiers snapped up huge swaths of the nation’s rental housing market in recent years, the deals sailed through unchallenged. But large purchases of rental homes and apartment buildings by private equity firms like KKR are another cause, research shows. The Private Equity Stakeholder Project, a nonprofit that monitors the industry’s impact on individual Americans, has identified more than 5,100 apartment complexes owned by more than 30 private equity companies in America, totaling almost 1.4 million units. Jim Baker, executive director at the Private Equity Stakeholder Project, welcomes the scrutiny the senators are bringing to the KKR transaction. More than two-thirds of the apartment units in those states are owned by private equity, he said.

In the final days of the race, Harris is expected to stress that she still believes she and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, are the “underdogs” in the race and that “nothing can be left on the field,” a Harris aide said. Harris has also started to use video clips of Trump’s comments at her rallies, a pattern that is expected to continue. A Harris campaign aide said the strategy is viewed as a “smart way to force a conversation about him.”“A huge part of our thinking is that we need to show his lack of fitness,” the person said. “Donald Trump’s comments continue to become more bizarre and more strange, and that’s something that should concern the American people and, in these closing days,” Garcia told NBC News on Wednesday, “Kamala Harris will make that argument.”

EV supporters point to dozens of new EV and battery plants announced in Michigan in the last two years. Political strategists told Business Insider that the anti-EV messaging was drowning out positive ones in Michigan, putting Democrats on the defensive in a critical battleground. "We've run some advertising trying to make the massive surge of new EV manufacturing at jobs in Michigan famous, because nobody knows about them," Murphy said. But that analysis didn't account for jobs created by new EV and battery manufacturing plants popping up across the country. Target is lowering prices on more than 2,000 items across an array of categories in a bid to offer more discounts to cash-strapped customers as the holiday season approaches. Both Target and Walmart have also sought to lean in to more store-brand offerings as a means of offering discounts. The most recent official retail sales data showed ongoing strength in consumer spending, while the pace of 12-month inflation continues to approach the Federal Reserve's official 2% target. However, research from a new Federal Reserve paper suggests lower-income households continue to struggle financially, something reflected in a lower pace of retail sales growth for that cohort. Target recently announced it was hiring 100,000 seasonal workers for the holidays — in line with the previous three years.

New York CNN —Target is slashing prices on more than 2,000 items, marking the second time this year that the retailer cut customer costs as it attempts to attract inflation-weary shoppers ahead of the holiday shopping season. Some prices have dropped effective immediately on a number of items, including home goods, beauty products, food, beverages and toys. In a press release, Target said it “routinely adjusts its prices to remain competitive in markets across the country” and the discounting will continue through December. In May, Target announced it was going to slash prices on 5,000 items but ended up surpassing that number, cutting prices on 8,000 products. However, there’s some good news for stores: Spending at US retailers climbed 0.4% in September from the prior month, according to government data released last week.
