Gold prices climbed to a two-week high on Thursday as U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell opened the door to cutting interest rates as early as September. Gold prices surged to record highs on Monday, driven by a softer dollar and expectations of a larger interest rate reduction by the U.S. Federal Reserve this week. Spot gold was up 0.5% at $2,588.29 per ounce, as of 0551 GMT, after hitting an all-time high of $2,589.23 earlier in the session. This would be Fed's first rate cut since 2020. Geologic hydrogen — sometimes known as white, gold or natural hydrogen — refers to hydrogen gas that is found in its natural form beneath Earth's surface. Pete Johnson, CEO and co-founder of Koloma, told CNBC that geologic hydrogen is fundamentally an exploration and production business. A primary energy source, such as coal, oil, wind or solar, refers to a natural energy source that has not been altered or converted. It's within this context that momentum has been growing over the potential of geologic hydrogen. Ellis said that just a small percentage of geologic hydrogen recovery might well be enough to supply all the projected demand for 200 years.

The governor’s office and Indonesia’s tourism ministry did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Monday. Foreign arrivals in Bali have surged since it re-opened for tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic. There were 541 hotels in Bali last year, the figures show, up from 507 in 2019.
