AdvertisementLately, creative workers are increasingly chasing their Hollywood dreams in production hubs far from Hollywood. FilmLA, which issues permits for production in the region, found that Greater Los Angeles' share of US-produced TV and film projects declined from 23% in 2021 to 18% last year. Brin said Lexington had attracted 30 film and TV projects so far this year, representing more than $2 million in local spending. Actually being on a set is only one part of entertainment production. While the power of Los Angeles is dispersing, no single "new Hollywood" is coming to take its place.

With some of these pressure points softening, food prices have cooled to rates comparable to before the pandemic. “Grocery prices have skyrocketed,” he said. “Until we can — if we can — fix climate change, there’s no way that food prices can come down,” he told CNN. In the past, grocery prices have come down primarily when “the economy is under duress” and people don’t have enough money to pay for groceries. Absent these kinds of scenarios, Trump is unlikely to get the actual food prices we pay back to where they were during his first term.

WASHINGTON — Over the last two years, a narrow Republican House majority has fought bitterly over everything from electing a speaker, keeping the government functioning and even passing symbolic messaging bills. Now, Republicans have clinched at least 218 seats to win a House majority, NBC News projects, but it’ll be another small one. “The House has always been a chaotic place, will always be a chaotic place. That’s nearly double the household income of $56,800 needed to afford a new home in 2019. Just 36% of US households earned enough to afford a new home, compared to 59% in Q3 2019. A shortage of homes in the US, combined with increased demand, helped create intense competition, leading to skyrocketing home prices in cities across America. A major contributor to the home affordability crisis: rising mortgage rates. Mortgage rates, which are the interest rates a lender charges on a home loan, ballooned in 2022 and 2023 as the Federal Reserve hiked interest rates to combat inflation.
