It was the seventh straight victory in statewide votes for supporters of abortion access nationally since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned constitutional protections. AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio man accused of abducting and beating a woman while she was confined for four days in a residential garage last month pleaded not guilty during a court hearing Thursday. William Mozingo, 33, was arraigned on charges of kidnapping, felonious assault, abduction and unlawful restraint. Authorities have said the woman knew Mozingo but not very well. The alleged abduction and attacks occurred after he offered to drive her home but instead took her to the garage. It shows officers using a ladder to help the woman climb down from a partially hidden hole in the ceiling.

An Ohio man who assaulted law enforcement officers during the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and who the Justice Department said became a “one-man misinformation machine” as he spread lies online about what occurred that day, was sentenced on Thursday to four years and 10 months in prison. The man, Kenneth Joseph Owen Thomas, 41, of East Liverpool, Ohio, had said online that his conviction in June on four counts related to his assaults on officers was a “huge win,” doubling down on his attacks that day, prosecutors said in court documents. They emphasized his apparent lack of regret in their sentencing memo, stating that Mr. Thomas had “expressed no remorse for his crimes,” and instead “sought fame and notoriety” after being part of the mob on Jan. 6. Judge Dabney Friedrich of U.S. District Court in Washington also ordered Mr. Thomas to pay a $20,000 fine and $2,000 in restitution.

Abortion rights supporters won an Ohio ballot measure and the Democratic governor of beet-red Kentucky held onto his office by campaigning on reproductive rights and painting his opponent as extremist on abortion. In both states, abortion was the main issue. In Ohio, a ballot measure preserving abortion rights passed in a state that Trump won by eight percentage points in 2020. Abortion rights measures have passed in a plethora of states as some other Republican-run states have instituted new bans on the procedure. Abortion rights may not be a potent enough issue to swing an election on its own.

CENTCOM on Sunday confirmed an Ohio-class submarine has traveled to the Mediterranean Sea. Ohio-class submarines can be equipped with advanced ballistic or Tomahawk missiles. GAZA, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Having rebuffed calls for a ceasefire, Israel was set to come under sustained pressure on Monday to avoid civilian casualties during its assault on Gaza, while a U.S. diplomatic blitz in the region sought to reduce risks of the conflict escalating. But after Blinken repeated U.S. concerns that a ceasefire could aid Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled that out unless hostages held by Hamas were released. "We demand that you stop them from committing these crimes immediately," Abbas told Blinken, urging an "immediate ceasefire" from Israel. "Stop in the name of God," he said, calling for humanitarian aid and help for the injured to ease the "very grave" situation in Gaza. Instead, the U.S. wants localized pauses in fighting to allow in humanitarian aid and for people to leave Gaza.
