Spotify's HR chief told Raconteur that the company will maintain its work-from-anywhere policy. AdvertisementAmazon might be ordering employees back to the office 5 days a week, but don't expect Spotify to follow suit. Spotify's latest reaffirmation of its WFA policy bucks the current trend of companies pushing to get employees in the office more days a week. Many executives and leaders have attributed their RTO mandates to increased productivity and collaboration when employees work together in the office. "Over time, this drawback could dramatically undermine the character and culture you want to promote in your company," Dimon added.

Facebook owner Meta announced on Friday it had built a new AI model called Movie Gen that can create realistic-seeming video and audio clips in response to user prompts, claiming it can rival tools from leading media generation startups like OpenAI and ElevenLabs. Movie Gen also can generate background music and sound effects synced to the content of the videos, Meta said in a blog post, and use the tool to edit existing videos. Videos created by Movie Gen can be up to 16 seconds long, while audio can be up to 45 seconds long, Meta said. They declined to comment on Meta's assessment for Movie Gen specifically. OpenAI's chief product officer isn't worried that the rise of open-source will cause the second. In the first vision, AI startups are in a winner-takes-all race. AdvertisementOn Wednesday, OpenAI chief product officer Kevin Weil took to the stage, where Anyscale cofounder Robert Nishihara asked him what open-source models mean for OpenAI's business. These AI models, such as Meta's Llama offerings, are freely available for almost anyone to use, while OpenAI sells access to propriety, closed models. But if downloadable, open-source models pull all prices down to the "cost of production," then Andreessen's first vision — of "infinite profits" — starts to appear a little less likely.

There are two competing visions for the future of the AI business, according to Marc Andreessen.
