It was April 2020, and Johnson had been furloughed from her full-time job as a daycare salesperson, where she made $70,000 per year. Even better, she adds: She spent less than 30 minutes per day on the side hustle, running it entirely on her phone, she says. The following year, she made $90,000 off Etsy and decided to run the online store full-time, she says. Here's how Johnson developed her side hustle, giving herself more free time and turning it into three different income streams. Preston White is YouTube star Ryan Trahan's creative director. When Preston White applied to compete in YouTube star Ryan Trahan's new video series, he didn't think it would lead to a major career — and life — change. White and two other contestants — including Zach Levet (who also landed a job with Trahan) — ended up as finalists in Trahan's three-part video series. For the video series, the contestants spent almost a week straight with Trahan, which led to White, Levet, and Trahan keeping in touch after the competition. YouTube creators typically set their own schedules, and they can choose to work as much, or as little, as they want.

A passive income stream can be a great way to generate extra money to pay down debt or save. Melissa Jean-Baptiste learned first-hand that passive income is not that "passive," especially in the beginning. Jean-Baptiste learned for herself that "creating a stream of passive income is hardly ever simple or passive." Although passive income is often not 100% passive, at least at first, the value of a side hustle or an additional income stream is undeniable. Jean-Baptiste writes, "the passive income I generated was critical in my debt-payoff journey because I could pay more towards my debt and it gave me more options."

One of those in the crowd, Josh Ortiz, who lives in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, said he was at the park to see the two YouTube personalities. “I just came out because I wanted to see them,” Mr. Ortiz, 18, said. “I think a lot of kids thought they could get a free PC or PlayStation and start making money, but I just wanted to see Kai. He’s the biggest Black creator in America right now.”He said things had initially been peaceful but that a few people had “started going crazy.”“It’s between bothersome and funny,” he said. “There was a big explosion just a second ago, but if you know, like I do, that it’s just kids with fireworks, then it gets kind of funny.”Mr. Ortiz said Mr. Cenat deserved some blame for the chaos.

Pivoting from YouTube to feature filmmaking sounds like a huge risk for a brand as big as RackaRacka, but for some creators who have had success on the platform, that is part of the point. And self-expression was Danny’s impetus for writing the film’s script with Bill Hinzman. “I never felt like I could get vulnerable with my audience,” Danny said about YouTube. “So I thought that I’d write something that was more personal, and deeper to who I was.”His sentiment emerges in several ways throughout the film. For another, the slower, more measured pace of a feature gave them new creative freedom.

Twitter announced Thursday it would start sharing ad revenue with some creators. Elon Musk has started sharing Twitter's ad revenue with a handful of accounts, hoping to incentivize the best creators to put their content on his platform. Twitter announced Thursday that creators would now be eligible to some of the company's ad revenue, "to help people earn a living directly" on the platform. But on the rare occasion Donaldson reveals how much ad revenue he makes, it is surprisingly little. Ad revenue traditionally aids smaller accounts who don't have their own brand deals — YouTube monetization is open to anyone with 1,000 subscribers.

The channels featured English-speaking young women, including a girl as young as 11, who claimed to offer an unfiltered look at every day life in North Korea as informal video bloggers, or "vloggers." The YouTube spokesperson said in a statement that the decision to remove the channels was taken to comply with "U.S. sanctions and trade compliance laws, including those related to North Korea." According to NK News, a Seoul-based website that tracks North Korea, the YouTubers have been linked to the Pyongyang-based Sogwang Media Corporation which seeks to expand the country’s external outreach through social media. North Korea-linked Twitter accounts, including those of so-called "friendship associations" in the United Kingdom and elsewhere, have also been blocked in South Korea due to legal demands. Some researchers have complained that removing the accounts cuts off sources of information about North Korea and its media.

Then, a deep dive into MrBeast and what his YouTube empire says about the future of the internet. Reddit came along and said, oh, we need to protect Reddit from the rise of these large language models. So I don’t think they’re totally out of the woods. But I want to challenge you on this, because I don’t necessarily think that it’s a bad thing if we have past peak trust and safety.

The Apple Vision Pro headset was the biggest announcement at its Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday, but there's nothing beyond official ads that show people actually using the $3,499 device. If you want to see the Vision Pro in use, you'll have to wait a bit longer to see anything that isn't curated by the people selling it.
