Instead, they’re turning to the internet for lower-cost options, whether a pop-up foldable house kit, a tiny home or a traditional mobile home. Amazon is not the first major retailer to sell manufactured homes. More than 100 years ago, American retailer Sears, Roebuck and Co began selling kit homes from its catalog, with some for under $1,000. A brush fire broke out Friday night in Prospect Park, in the Brooklyn borough of New York City, amid a drought that has been plaguing the northeastern U.S. for weeks. The New York City Fire Department posted about the fire on X at around 8 p.m. and said "operations are ongoing." On Thursday, "temperatures soared to well above normal readings," the National Weather Service office in New York said. The entire New York City region was under a red flag warning Friday, the weather service said, with wind gusts up to 30 mph possible. Prospect Park is located between the neighborhoods of Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Flatbush and Windsor Terrace in Brooklyn and boasts a zoo and an ice rink in its 526 acres.

CNN —Tony Todd, the actor who played the eponymous phantom killer in the original “Candyman” horror franchise and other notable roles, has died at 69. The news was confirmed to CNN on Saturday by Todd’s talent agent, Dede Binder, of the Defining Artist agency. Todd portrayed the character, originally based on a 1985 Clive Barker short story, in the original film franchise starting with the 1992 movie, and reprised the role in the 2021 reboot directed by Nia DaCosta. WASHINGTON — Republicans are gearing up to lock in their remake of the judiciary under President-elect Donald Trump and a new Senate majority, including potentially installing several more conservative Supreme Court justices. Conservatives are prepared for Supreme Court retirements, with the most attention on Justice Samuel Alito, 74. GOP won't pursue Supreme Court ethics rulesTrump already transformed the federal courts in his first term, appointing 54 appeals court judges and 174 district court judges, many of whom are closely linked with the Federalist Society, a conservative legal group. Biden has made his own mark on the judiciary, appointing 210 district and appeals court judges in total, including 44 appeals court judges, falling just short of Trump’s total. “We’ll quit beating up the Supreme Court every time we don’t like the decision they make,” he said.
