Texas-based satellite manufacturer AST SpaceMobile is a risky — but worthwhile — investment, according to UBS. Analyst Christopher Schoell increased his price target for the stock by $6 to $13, implying a whopping 50.8% potential upside as of Friday's close. The shares have climbed nearly 44% so far this year, and skyrocketed about 284% over the past month. "We still see ASTS as a high-risk, high-reward investment that is subject to various risks," Schoell said in a Monday note. Still, the stock has several risks that could create uncertainties for the company's path ahead, such as launch timing and the possibility of failures, regulatory issues, funding and competition.

CNN —AT&T’s second prolonged outage so far this year left customers irate on Tuesday, with experts criticizing the company’s response and saying the wireless company risked losing user loyalty over the issues. Because of the problem connecting to other carriers, thousands of Verizon customers also reported a service outage on Down Detector Tuesday. In a statement Tuesday, AT&T said it had resolved the outage and that calls between AT&T customers were not impacted. Tens of thousands of AT&T customers in America could not make phone calls, send texts, reach emergency services or access the internet. After two consecutive outages and a March data breach, North said AT&T needs to work to regain customer trust.

FCC ends affordable internet program due to lack of funds

Washington CNN —The Affordable Connectivity Program, which helped low-income Americans get online, is no more. The program’s lapse threatens to throw nearly 60 million Americans into financial distress, CNN has reported. The program officially ends on June 1, said the Federal Communications Commission, which administered the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) to approximately 1 in 5 households across the country and on tribal reservations. “The Affordable Connectivity Program filled an important gap that provider low-income programs, state and local affordability programs, and the Lifeline program cannot fully address,” said FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel in a statement, referring to the name of another, similar FCC program that subsidizes wireless and home internet service. He also announced a series of voluntary commitments by a handful of internet providers to offer — or continue offering — their own proprietary low-income internet plans.

Satellite-to-phones service provider AST SpaceMobile announced a partnership with Verizon on Wednesday, adding to the company's recent deal with AT&T to provide remote coverage across the United States. AST SpaceMobile is building satellites to provide broadband service to unmodified smartphones, in the nascent "direct-to-device" communications market. The company's chairman and CEO, Abel Avellan, touted AST's agreements with Verizon and AT&T as "essentially eliminating dead zones and empowering remote areas of the country with space-based connectivity." Verizon's deal effectively includes a $100 million raise for AST, as well, in the form of $65 million in commercial service prepayments and $35 million in debt via convertible notes. The companies said that $45 million of the prepayments "are subject to certain conditions" such as needed regulatory approvals and signing of a definitive commercial agreement.

Decisions on additions and deletions to the Dow is made by the S & P Dow Jones Indices Index Committee. The S & P Dow Jones committee also wants to maintain adequate sector representation and it may come to believe there are other companies that better represent that corner of the market. Finally, there is the stock price issue. Unlike the S & P 500, the Dow is price weighted. Bottom line: Nvidia's 10-for-1 stock split makes it a Dow contender, but the committee has a clear preference for stocks that are well-seasoned, and not just sudden superstars.

With 5G, organizations now have faster internet speeds, expanded capabilities, and an additional avenue of connectivity. Telecom companies can also provide private 5G networks to businesses, offering them low latency and high bandwidth to transfer large volumes of data securely. For example, NTT, a Japanese telecom company, offers 5G services to consumers and private 5G services to businesses, particularly in the manufacturing and automotive industries. Increasingly, more cellular and Internet of Things devices are being connected to organizations' 5G networks, which means more opportunities for hackers if organizations don't properly manage their security. In the future, more security companies could focus on 5G security for cars, airplanes, medical devices, and more.

If you subscribe to Netflix's cheapest plan, and also get Peacock's cheapest plan, and also get Apple TV+, it will cost you $23 a month. So Peacock and Apple would benefit more from being in a bundle with Netflix, so they are more likely to discount their rates to make the bundle work. Digital distributors like Apple have made it very easy for subscribers to turn their streaming subscriptions on and off. Netflix, Comcast, and Apple all declined to comment about bundle economics. Discovery said that they would bundle their streaming services, selling users a package that included Disney+, Hulu and Max. For years, the company has offered services like Netflix and Apple TV+ as add-ons to its existing television bundle, acting as a vendor for those companies. Comcast, which has millions of broadband and cable television customers across the United States, has different incentives to bundle streaming services together than many of its competitors do. Many other internet providers have sold bundles that include streaming services. When the short-lived short-form streaming service Quibi launched, T-Mobile offered to bundle its wireless offering with that service.

Generative AI is revolutionizing cybersecurity in connected networks. Generative AI has become a double-edged sword for the security of connected networks. On one hand, generative AI can speed up cybersecurity problems, making it easier and cheaper for bad actors to conduct identity attacks. Business Insider spoke with several cybersecurity professionals who attended the annual RSA conference this week in San Francisco about how generative AI is increasingly used in cybersecurity for 5G devices and networks. Now that mobile and Internet of Things devices have become more ubiquitous, they're using even more data, which generative AI can help filter and secure.
