ProPublica reported last week that two Texas women died after they faced delays in getting miscarriage care because of the state’s abortion ban. ProPublica’s coverage in September linked two deaths to Georgia’s abortion ban. “The nature of the strict abortion ban in Texas does not allow us as medical professionals to do our jobs,” they wrote. But reproductive rights advocates said stories about the consequences of abortion bans resonate with voters in any part of the country. Their children now are growing up without their mothers because of our state’s abortion ban,” Black said.

☆ Remains of nearly 30 Civil War veterans found in a Seattle funeral home’s storage are laid to rest

Pawtucket, Rhode Island AP —For several decades, the cremated remains of more than two dozen American Civil War veterans languished in storage facilities at a funeral home and cemetery in Seattle. The simple copper and cardboard urns gathering dust on shelves only had the name of each of the 28 soldiers – but nothing linking them to the Civil War. While some remains are hidden away in funeral homes, others were found where they fell in battle or by Civil War re-enactors combing old graveyards. The remains of several more Civil War veterans were sent to Maine, Rhode Island and other places where family connections were found. Bruce Frail and his son Ben – both long active in the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War – were on hand for service.

But several studies conclude that the cost of those tariffs were borne almost entirely by American consumers and businesses. The most generous interpretation of Trump’s tariff plan would be that he’s trying to force US businesses to move their overseas operations back on US soil, creating jobs. Montana Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy struggled in a new interview to give a clear explanation about the circumstances surrounding an incident in a national park in 2015 that led to him being treated for a gunshot wound and receiving a fine. All accounts agree that, as first reported by the Washington Post this spring, Sheehy went to the hospital after his gun went off in Glacier National Park in 2015 (firing a weapon is illegal in a national park).
